Ok, I am not obsessed by sunflower seeds but today I see- holland and barratt sunflower seeds 500g £2.25 and bogof = £2.25 a kilo -

Hallo Tesco - why are you charging £10.36 a kilo???
  • Since looking more closely this week to tesco prices and reading this thread, I decided to do as little as possible shop at Tesco and went to Farm Foods instead. Cant believe I have NEVER been there - how cheap are they? Fantastic. Spent £30 in there and only £28 in Tesco (didnt need meat this week), so next week am hoping to get it lower and spend even less in Tesco. I really am fed up to the back teeth of the big supermarkets charging (what it seems) what they like!!!
When you were born, you were crying and everyone around was smiling. Live your life so at the end, you're the one who is smiling and everyone around you is crying! :rotfl:

On Farm food website they don't give any indication of what the sell, nor how much.... well I shall just have to visit them (snow permitting!)!!!
  • Don't know if this is anyhelp, but our local spar shop now selling Whiskas Pouches (Yes my cat is a fussy eater too!) for £2.50 a box. Don't know if this is everywhere though. Otherwise my tip for fussy cats is to buy cheap tuna in brine , when you can, rinse in in a sieve to get rid of most of the salt and to mix it in with the cat food. Sometimes it really works!!
Notice Tescos being crafty, selling it cheaper for those who internet shop, than in store-Beware!!
  • Farm Foods are fantastic, I love them. You can buy lots of ready meal type stuff if that's what you're after but they do frozen veg of all kinds and really cheap frozen fish and meat and tinned basics. They also do 4pints of milk for £1 in our local one and bread is two loaves for £1.45 (Kingsmill). Cereals are £1 a box (Kellogs), frozen raspberries are £1 a pack. Our local one has been getting really busy lately, the checkout lady told me Friday night that they've been getting 'a lot of the upper class people' in there lately who were previously too posh to go in there. :p

I walk up to my local Tesco and buy my dried cat food from there. It used to be 83p for a big box. Bought some yesterday and it was £1.18.

Now that is a pretty big hike, percentage wise.

Spot on post. I noticed the price of the peanuts rising, although i had no knowledge of the differing prices, just 36p.
I agree with what you say about the roll over society on here, why should we accept it and go elsewhere? Travelling further to save the money but pay more for travelling really makes sense doesnt it?

Tesco continuing the Smoke and Mirrors policy - Value Peanuts now back down to £0.21 in my local store.

Also interesting to see amongst all these puerile new "brand" names they are making up the local branch has 3 varieties of Beans going for 29p "Farmland" and "Oak Lane" both 49% beans and trusty old "Value" 44%. They are not doing their bit by giving British jobs to British Workers as they are taking a huge hit on the Euro exchange rate and importing all these beans from Italy.

Ventured into my local Tesco to buy some soup/meal type thingy. Chicken it is and in an orangey tin. Was 54p, now 94p.

Half the other things I thought about getting had risen in price quite sharply too, so I walked out empty handed.

Amoy coconut milk has gone up from 99p to £1.29 in the past couple of weeks

I couldn't beleive that price hike when i saw it - have the coconut cows gone on strike?! :D The best bit in our tesco's was the big sign under the milk saying "GREAT LOW PRICES" the utter cheek! (I told a few people in the asile next to me that too!)

I guess its another Tesco profiteering in the name of christmas trick, mind you in previous years they have taken value peanuts off altogether and put them back out in the new year.
