Best offer i've seen recently on Heinz beans is 2 x 4pack for £3 in Sainsburys (til 17/2). I remember when last year the offer was 2x4pack at £2!

But Dawn French says Tesco are the UKs 'biggest discounters' in the ad????? :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

this is because they have more stores, so they are the biggest discounters by volume.

Open to interpretation - Biggest Rip Off Merchants would be more accurate

Tesco have been doing Branston Beans 4 cans for £1 lately - the beans are just as good as Heinz. Normally the cans retail for 64p each

I've bought 16 cans for my store cupboard!

Yes it is, but they're legally allowed to use this line in ads because they have the most amount of supermarket retail space ;)

That's probably when I got all mine. Even back then I think the best offers were at Asda!

I usually by the Tesco's own coffee whitener. Dunno why but I go for the Light option and I was quite happy when I saw they had a shelf full and no normal version. I then noticed the price and saw why...

    Tesco Coffee Whitener 500g £1.20
Tesco Light Coffee Whitener 500g £1.64

Looks like I'm going to have to go to Asda for this

    Hi.
I noticed this as well at our local Tesco, I always used to buy the light option, but not any longer.
I don't know how they can justify this
  • I find I'm shopping around much more than I used to. I mainly shop at Tesco but am fortunate to have a Sainsbury's nearby too, so from there I get the following:

4 pints 1% fat milk £1 (buy this instead of semi-skimmed)
15 free range eggs for £2 (when available)
400g basics dried skimmed milk (for use when cooking) £1.48
small tins of basics pineapple in juice 16p
basics peaches in juice 20something pence
    Sains wholemeal bread flour 99p
Sains own version of Ready Brek £1.32

These are the prices when I bought recently (they may have gone up now) and all cheaper than Tesco.

About once every couple of months I go to Asda and stock up on things like their chocolate chips (for cooking) - think they're about 39p or so - way cheaper than Tesco.

i shop less and less in Tescos each week.
i now shop in iceland for frozen items with free delivery if you spend over £25
I get most of the staple food items in Aldi and only what i can't buy in these two shops i buy in tescos.
Tescos are going the way Sainsburys did in the 90s getting very complacent in the no 1 spot and taking their eye off the ball, not deliverying what the customers want - value for money and not to be ripped off
