*sigh* Am I the only one shaking their head in wonder that people are sad & desperate enough to *HAVE* to have the Xbox 360? I heard a bloke on Radio 1 news this morning doing the old sob-story that his pre-order probably wouldn't be honoured and his 5 year old would be SO disappointed... excuse me! What flaming 5-year old is going to be remotely capable of a) knowing if it's a 360 and b) making use of it properly! Who's the present for REALLY, eh dad? Get him an "old" xbox and tell him to be happy with it. Some people need a blooming reality check about how to say "no" to extortionate demands from kids for presents that'll only encourage them to become isolated anyway... get a board game that the family can play together or something!

i agree but the thing is, how many people said the same thing when 'big trak' came out? or the atari2600 or the commadore 64?

at the time they were all very expensive bits of kit.

i tried different tactics this time
just offered my son the money and told him to get it himself!

Christmas just brings out the best in me

(he's not to bothered and said he will get one in the new year......

I bought Monopoly last year and it's not been out of the box yet, I wonder if my six year old would be up to playing a game of it this year. My kids aren't spoiled and I do say NO to them quite a lot, if they don't like it, too bad. They don't go without where the essentials are concerned.

I agree about what was said re presents that make kids isolated. Xbox is fine if you can get it at a reasonable cost, no way I would pay £700+ for something that is new on the market and has glitches galore. I would also limit playing time for kids too. Going off thread so back to Xbox pricing madness...

Possibly next year at this time it will be Playstation 3 pricing madness...

yeah, get your kids to play Monopoly then they will learn how money works in future. Maybe buy a few assets and grow them? :)

I went into Game today, in Leamington, it opened at 11am.

I went into Leamington thinking it would be open from 10am til 4pm.

As soon as the shutters went up to let the punters in, what I would call a 'typical British' thing happened.

Some dopey tw*t asked if they had any X-Box 360 consoles.

    I couldn't believe my ears.

This country really is full of uneducated, brain dead people, many of which have too much time on their hands.

It may be sad, but when mine arrived I had a good laugh. Knowing that there would be many thickos driving around looking for one, when mine had been couriered to me (for free, too, via a discount code gained from viewing a thread on MSE).

We might be one of the better nations in the world, but we sure as hell haven't got the most intelligent people.
