XBOX 360 - Pricing madness begins!

Just phoned my local GAME store here in belfast to check availalility of the (cheaper) core pack and they will have 'some' availability tomorrow in a 'special pack' offer of core system, extra controller, hard disk and 'your choice' of EIGHT games for .... wait for it .... £699!!!!!

NO core packs will be available on their own from them. Now i can sort of see how private inidividuals could cash in on the xbox360 mania by selling on ebay, BUT for major retailers to be doing this - they should be burned at the stake!

Its just simple supply and demand economics. If you're not happy paying £700, don't but it, but many other people will.

Its like saying that all estate agents should be hung because they are exploiting the rising market...

I've moved this across to Shop but don't drop as at that price it isn't really a Quick! Grabbit bargain! :eek:

No doubt people will pay it, very sad reflection on life that some people will have to pay £699 for a pack before christmas when we'll be tripping over the consoles in january for £219.99....

I was going to buy the full system plus 2 games.

But i agree people will pay it.

there are over 1000 360s on ebay already!

Same here - thats the plan anyway.

But how many people actually HAVE them to sell? Setting aside the scammers who will happily take your money and run, I think most of the rest are hoping they will get one from a preorder and sell it on. I see lots of people going for the 'i will guarantee you will get this before christmas or i will give you your money back'. Great, what use is that going to be to someone on christmas eve when the spotty 15yo seller realises he can't get you one? And quite a few people have been sucked in to commiting £500 to someone who probably has as much chance as the rest of us (ie, a snowballs chance down below) of actually getting one.

Thinkin bout the PS1 Console (Mini One!), originally £250 back at launch, now £15 LOL..

Yes we saw these in our local GAME shop today, and dh commented on the price, he is going to wait and see if the price comes down later on.

pah, no doubt the games are not the tip top ones that everyone wants either.

importing the console maybe the way to go, saves being ripped off.
