if interested, I found a place in Camden, London , that will do a factory reset (and unlock) on your '3' 7600 to enable 2g services all the time - without it searching for the '3' network on all sims. They charge £5, and take about 5 mins to do it! not sure if ok to post this - but sure it will be removed if not:

now have an unlocked / sim free 7600 without the 3 problems!! (and its on now on Ebay for sale cos its still an ugly phone with a !!!!!! of a navigation system!! )

yes you need to change the box serial to ASIC 6,then the codes are correct, I'll do the code for you if need be

the only NEC that can be unlocked at home easily is the 525 camera phone using Nectalk

all others have to be taken to a shop that can do it directly by cable, expect to pay about £15-30

It can be done! Their was a link posted to another site where you can download the drivers to unlock yourself through a cable for e616v, e228 and some other one.
