if interested, I found a place in Camden, London , that will do a factory reset (and unlock) on your '3' 7600 to enable 2g services all the time - without it searching for the '3' network on all sims. They charge £5, and take about 5 mins to do it! not sure if ok to post this - but sure it will be removed if not:
Embassy repairs, Unit 4-5 Centric Close, Oval Road, Camden. tel 02074859873
now have an unlocked / sim free 7600 without the 3 problems!! (and its on now on Ebay for sale cos its still an ugly phone with a !!!!!! of a navigation system!! ):j0 -

the only NEC that can be unlocked at home easily is the 525 camera phone using Nectalk
all others have to be taken to a shop that can do it directly by cable, expect to pay about £15-30Ex forum ambassador
