  • I try to switch the phone security to off but it keeps asking for the security code.

Phone is other half's (very) old one and he swears he didn't set this to a particular number.  Any ideas anyone ???
Often the security code will be the one preset by the factory, usually 11111 or 12345, assuming that it hasn't been manually changed at any time.  ???

*EDIT* Sorry, just realised you've already sussed it  ::)
BUT as soon as I put the new 02 Sim in, it comes up as BT CELLNET and manually trying to find the 02 network doesn't work, 02 isn't even on the list.....just BT, Vodafone and Orange.

Could this be because of poor coverage in my area, or possible a dodgy sim?
I think O2 used to be called Cellnet and then BT Cellnet before demerging from BT and becoming O2 (I think!) :-/

  • Have successfully unlocked a Samsung T100 before, and now I'm trying my Sony Ericsson T610
Bought a cable from ebay, very cheap! But I don't seem to be able 2 get a connection between phone & cable

Anyone recommend me somewhere (cheap!) to get the job done?

A search on Googole shows about £15 to do the job - but most markets will have several stalls that will unlock it for you cheaper

I was hoping one of you knowledgeable gnu's (sorry guru's) out there would be able to help, or point in the right direction.

Am looking to replce my wife's old(ish) nokia, currently on orange PAYG. On the "Quick Grabit While You Can" thread you can buy a sagem myX-2 (i think) for £14.95 (or less) from LX, and I thought this'll do the job, but................on that board and this one I notice people referring to cables and possibly extra hardware in order to unlock the phone.

So to my question.... If I obtain the appropriate code can I enter them directly into the sagem so that I can put the nokia orange sim into it and carry on using it on the orange network (sorry for the essay)

Sorry to resurrect old thread but I just wanted to confirm the above, in case there's anybody else out there in the same boat.

Apparently older phones still have the BTCELLNET listing instead of the newer 02 logo but they are definately one and the same.

  • would like some help please,

have a motorola v220 locked to Orange

Have a data cable, has anyone got any codes to unlock this?

    Advice appreciated, Ta!
  • This is brilliant! Have a load of old nokia phones lying around locked to Orange which are no more - thanks for the idea (and the savings!) ;D

I have used the Unlock Codes Calculator v2.31 by Crux which lists most of the major manufacturers and comes with instructions. As a novice unlocker I have sucessfully programmed a Nokia 6100 and Nokia 6230.

The Missus, who has recently given up work after our 2nd child only had to pay £10 for a Virgin pay as you go SIM (with £5 inclusive calls) and has a top phone which New would have cost at least ten times as much!!!

    It's pretty straightforward - give it a go! ;)

  • I also got 2 codes from uniquephones, tried the first and got the message 'sim was not restricted'.  :-/

Would I be correct in assuming that the sim is already interchangeable?  ???

I have a Nokia 8210 (vodaphone) which I had converted from contract to PAYG in mid-June.

This is the same issue I came across in trying to convert my Nokia 6230. I think Nokia have wised up to this unlocking business and have put another spanner in the works! The software I mention above by Crux is freeware and once you have entered your details in it generates 7 codes.

I entered the first code for the first part of the unlock and thought I had unlocked the phone. When prompted again to enter a code for unlocking I re-entered and got the message you describe 'sim was not restricted'.

Shot in the dark - I went for the second code on the list and hey presto what do you know- one unlocked 6230.

unfortunately there seems to be no code for the samsung SGH-N500 .

    Try this: -

    Model: Samsung Universal

    TEMPORARY UNLOCK:
Put a non-accepted SIM Card and turn it on. Type *#9998*3323#. Press Exit. You will get a new menu. Select Malloc Fail.

    In newer phones:
    #*7337#
