Afternoon all and welcome to all the newbies, I know you will all enjoy your time here
Well, just having 5 mins sit down. Have been shopping this morning for some bits, been to the bank then came home dusted down my slow cooker which I haven't used for a little while now, but now the cold weather is here I think it will get better use now. Have a small piece of beef in there for tomorrow, found some red wine from DH's store of bottles. I dont drink the stuff so hope its not an expensive one!!! Splashed it over the beef and the smell is permeating the house now mmmmmmmmm. Also just made some soup, potatoes, leeks, carrots, red onions and a little bit of garlic, smells good, will wait for DH to come home from work which should be soon and will sit down to some of it and get marks out of 10
Hope everyone has a good day. Ta ta for now0 -
Morning all!

catowen If your WM is 10 years old, I imagine it will be cheaper to buy a new energy efficient one.
bootsalebabe Hope your DD is alright
Well, film last night (death race) was really good, I would highly recommend it. Had 12 hours sleep last night and am, still tired
I will stick some washing on in a minute, over the airers though as its drizzling here. I want to make some apple and date chutney with some gifted apples as well.
I must be one of the few lucky ones, my house is not cold. I am sat in a long sleeved tee and a jumper, and I'm fine. I do work in a chilled warehouse though, so am probably used to it. However, I have noticed a draught coming through my bedroom window, so will have to get some of that cling film stuff for it.
Hope you all have a good day :beer:We must all suffer one of two things: the pain of discipline or the pain of regret and disappointment0 -
Hi everyone,
I haven't been posting on the daily for ages but I've been reading this morning and just thought I'd say hello. :hello:
We got dd settled in uni and she seems really happy. The city where she is living is fantastic and I think she made the right decision. Her halls are in a lovely area and her room is bigger than it is at home. Because we stayed for three days as we had to buy lots of things for her room and to help her settle in, we got to see where she'll be studying, eating, shopping and going out and got to meet lots of her new friends. That made it a whole lot easier for me leaving her. The strange thing is that although she and I have had a 'difficult' time over the last year we have suddenly become a lot closer. She phones home every day for a chat/gossip and has asked to come home next weekend 'just to see you'. :j The flights are only £30 return, so it's worth it to me and I'll get to do the mother hen bit while she's here! Just doing some meal planning now so I can cook her favourite foods while she's home.
Mr Pink has taken ds1 to play rugby this morning, but they overslept and left in a rush so ds1 forgot to take clothes to wear after the match. It's pouring down here so the pitch was muddy and he got soaked through. Mr Pink was wearing wellies and a warm coat so he gave ds his coat. Only problem was they had an appointment at the hairdressers on the way home. So they decided to swap clothes in the car to try to make themselves look as 'respectable' as possible. I've just phoned to see where they are and ds is getting his hair cut in his dads clothes and Mr Pink is wearing jeans, wellie boots and a coat with nothing on underneath! I really shouldn't let them out alone! How am I ever going to face the hairdresser again!
Anyway, I've got a big pot of stew to warm them up when they get home. It's so horrible outside I don't think I'll venture out today so might spend some time doing that horrible thing.....housework. _pale_ I think I might be an evil mum too and get the boys to sort out the mess that they call their room.

Hi,
Just a quickie to say that I haven't stopped since I woke up and have got loads done :j:cool:
I've meal planned, done shopping list, sorted paperwork out, set up DD's and done loads off my to-do list. Off to get shopping list now inc tape (to block up drafty vents) and hot water bottles (so don't need to put heating on just yet).
Hope everyone's having a good day

The invalid is home, so have only read some of yesterday's thread and some of to-days, he has to go back to have blood checked on Monday and Warfarin clinic is on Wednesday. Drove him to get money and the paper (and cigarettes of course!) this am, was leaving him to do his own thing with cash machine but he called me over to do it...not sure if he couldn't remember how to use machine or had forgotten password...think that we will be a while sorting out what he can and can't do and not sure if he will go for the speech therapy but his decision as I am totally against arguments, think that they would be worse than anything for him. Dinner to-day is his favourite bacon and cabbage (small amount) he seems to have got used to puddings while in hospital so temptation for me!
Hugs to all in need or want , welcome to newbies, congratulations to all who are celebrating and thanks for all the wonderful support...feel I might need it for a while yet thanks

Morning everyone....errr whoops, afternoon I mean. Like Pink-w I haven't posted for ages either but because her post had me practically falling off my chair in laughter it inspired me to say something. Pink, glad to hear that your family is as completely normal as ever.:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: I'm glad to hear your DD is happy at uni, she's a lovely girl and you've obviously done a good job with her to be mature and appreciative of everything she's got.
My life...still in my temporary job, it's going permanent at some stage but I'm still not allowed to apply for it - it'll go out to the public if it's not filled internally, but since it's quite high up the scale there are lots of potential internal applicants who would be interested. So who knows what's going to happen to me next.
Mean Marie - I hope Ulick's health is progressing and it's fabulous to hear that he's home now. All the best to you both
Catowen, think you should go for a new washing machine, even if it is a stretch along with everything else that's going on. Your 10 year old model isn't ever going to be "as good as new" again - it will probably be better to have the reassurance of a guarantee and of course they are all much more energy efficient these days too.
I'm sharing a heavy raincloud with Pink-w and can testify that it is indeed a wet and horrible miserable day here. So it's a good day to be doing some housewifey stuff.
Bye

Snowy, it's fantastic to hear from you! :j :j :j I've missed you and a lot of the other 'old timers' who used to post on the daily.
Good luck with the job....I hope when it goes permanent you'll apply and they'll be fools if they don't grab you with both hands! Whoops! Didn't mean that to be as rude as it sounds! It could be the start of something BIG, we could walk round all the stores with badges on, would'nt earn anything but the satisfaction of saving money for thousands of peeps would be worth it :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Think I am getting carried away now
That's a great idea! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: I have been known to accost innocent shoppers in the past. The only problem is we'd probably all get banned from the supermarkets for decreasing their profits.
meanmarie, I'm glad to hear Ulick is home. It will probably be a trying time but I'm sure that someone as strong as you will come through it. Sending you lots of hugs.

Afternoon all
Hope everyone is having a good day, I'm going back to bed soon for a snooze, DGD was restless last night & woke up for an hour at 4, she's covered head to toe in a rash, allergy of some sort, so she's probably itchy. DGS came in at 7 & said rise & shine Nana, I rose, but I don't think I was very shiney. They left about an hour ago & are off to see ex oh as it's his birthday today (boo hiss).
Welcome to the newbies & hugs to those in need.
Hester
