Took it back to argo's and they are a deleted item now as they only sell the 6Gb one, they also can't send them for repair, tried to offer me a refund but I refused as I wanted it replaced..."The refund of £99 will not get me a new one will it!" tried in 2 different stores and fingers crossed the last one in the UK it on its way to my local store for me to have! 1 guy even told me they can't replace it as the price has gone up now!!!!!!!! I put him in his place!
Then nearly blagged a new 6Gb one but about 30sec's before it was in my hands a supervisor spotted the "6gb" on the box and took it back
I spent well over an Hr in there today trying to sort it out, and I've lost count of how many times I had to explain its got 1(or 2?) yrs warrenty on it so want it fixed or replaced!
I'll chase them up middle of next week on the replacement.
Anybody got any ideas what I can do if they can't get me a replacement?...should I contact Iriver direct?
Cheers
Well the new one finally got here and its a "Color" so has an FM radio! Photos seem ok on it aswell!
Seems to be less plasticy? I'm sure the old one(the "Pure") was a plastic shell where as this one is metal?
Anyway who cares seems the better one to have!0 -
hey Phil_H, may I ask how do u get yourself a replacement please?
Did you get it from Argos? and when did u buy the Iriver 5Gb?
I think I have the same problem as you.0 -
I bought mine before christmas at 99 quid, can I still take it back for a refund or so?

if it was me on customer service, i would try to find out whether it could be repaired, if not the customer should be provided with the best possible solution, in this case it might be an equivalent 20gb iriver, or a refund. Its upto management discretion.
Argos dont do a 20gb one, so i guess you could choose another manufacturer such as archos. If iriver dont have a repair service then its tough really...
I think i would offer a refund as we couldnt get it repaired or replaced to a similar spec. its definately a hard one to solve as law and policy isnt accurate enough0 -
executiverocker, do u work for Argos??0
-
yup i do, why0

basically i bought my Iriver H10 5Gb slate grey version back in early Decemeber, however since recently, i have been getting huge battery problem, i did see the player switching on itself at random sometimes, hence very often when I try to switch on the player, nothing comes up... that is after i have fully charged it.
anyway, do u think i can get a refund from argos store??
many thanks0 -
Took this back to Argos, got a refund. I am very glad... now I can buy ipod or something else, something better, far better
would never buy Iriver again, it is really bad, i remember i first have problems with loading songs into it, then upgrade the firmware, then it has a major problem, won't play songs anymore, then i seek help from others who own Iriver mp3 players, then updated the firmware to the usa version.
It worked fine for a couple of weeks, but that is with little problem, that the playlist won't come up, i have to database refresh it...
And now it decided to have this battery problem, or randomly switching itself on, this means i have to separate the battery from the player everytime when I am not listening to it...
I thought I would be stuggle for that forever, now hey I read Phil_H post, and it is very helpful, a helpful suggestion to take this back to argos and get a refund...
Tried to contact Iriver company itself, but they dont seem to reply to their e-mails...
Anyway, I would probably not buy Iriver products anymore, i dont recommend it to anybody, it dies easily...0 -
They offered me a refund at first but I said I wanted it reaired or replaced, they checked and they have no repair facilities, so they searched the UK for a replacement and found 1 in Newton and got it sent down. I also bought mine for £99 at christmas hence not wanting a refund as the cheapest half decent 5gb MP3 players are £150+.
If the problem comes back I will have to ge a refund!0 -
Phil_H, I wouldn't say that Iriver H10 is a bargain... you should have got yourself a refund...0
