    god i love this site.

You should all be lawyers , you are excellent at picking up every little detail. Ok not that I need to justify my spending habits, the way i raise my children or my hobby time, i will answer you.

I work shifts, therefore I am off during the day, I play when the kids are at school and the majority of other people are working. Its great, the best time to play, also known as millionaires golf, as you usually have the whole course to yourself. Playing weekends is usually a no no, the time with the kids issue, the course is heaving issue. This weekend is a competition, I have never entered one before but I thought I would give it a go.
this is exactly the 'golf' argument I put to OH.

empty fairways. no time-wasting hackers making me stand around on tees.

    and a cheaper 5-day m/ship.

    lovely.

Ok for a start, Horse is obviously winding you all up and its working a treat. the only data I supply is personal. It is my own feelings of buying recently and how it is effecting me. I am not quoting rates, and economist views, they are my own views from my own experiances.

Precisely. And that's why, with the greatest respect, your "data" is worthless, because it isn't based on fact, it's based on what you want/need/would like to happen.

We could all debate what we'd like to see. I could buy a Ford Mondeo and state that I think Ford Mondeos are about to go up in value, but with absolutely no basis in fact, just wishful thinking it's of no value.

The input from the horse/Londonlandlady person is that same. At best it's just a desperate plea for what they need to happen, at worst it's simple trolling, and this board isn't the place for either.

We're all happy to debate facts and informed points of view contrary to our own, indeed we welcome them, it challenges our perceptions and gives us other facets of the situation to look at.

But simply coming on here and shouting "you're all losers, house prices are going up in weeks", and then repeating it when asked for intelligent reasoning is a waste of everyones time, theirs included.

note to mrdt, do you do anything that costs money.
Is me playing golf this weekend going to cost me anything. The £490 was spent in apr. So again ho much is golf going to cost me this weekend.

blimey, does anyone spend money on themselves in here, has noone got any debt. Do you all just work, put it into a tin marked (do not open untill houses are 75% cheaper), and type on here and mock others for doing things.

How much did your golf cost.

    £490 you tell us.
    Paid in April

No matter what way you cut it £490 is not free.
You game this weekend will cost you a fraction of that amount.
Free it is not, a bargain it may well be.

I know where your coming from, but tbh my time on here is not necessarily valuable (to anybody), so I can't honestly describe it as wasted.

One benefit from the troll threads is that it is an easy place to rehearse / perfect the bear arguments, after all if you make a slip up it's not someone 'important' that you have misled or been made to look stupid in front of.

The other, particularly for me, is that it doesn't matter if you veer off in a different direction, post silly stuff, have fun, etc. - whereas on the more serious threads I feel a need to rein it in.

Even at 75% the majority probably would'nt buy................enjoy the golf and doing what else you enjoy.
Stay around here much longer, the bitter and twistedness may rub off on you.
No I wont get bitter and twisted. I just hate it when you give a vald answer and they never can come back with anything else. They really are unbelivable and i would hate to spend a day with them. Can you imagine going to the pub with some of these people, and seeing them squirm if you suggest getting into a round.
I know it MSE website, but for christ sake, I have been lambasted for trying to get a better job, getting in debt becasue of it, buying a house, spoiling the kids, not spending enough time with kids, spending money because i am debt, buying a sofa, playing golf,

Your right mate, and the above sums up an average/NORMAL family and what they do in life.
As for the pub how many would disappear to the toilet or tie their shoelace when its time to get a round in.

My bad for assuming you would playing golf the way I would have to, which would be weekends. I apologise* for confusing you with the typical part time dad, who can somehow fit a four hour round of golf, and possibly drinks afterwards - into a normal family weekend.

I think this lack of understanding, and jumping to conclusions, illustrates exactly why I could never be a lawyer.

*standard apology - messed up again - it's running at about once every three posts currently.
Thankyou mewbie. I think a lot of people jump to wrong conclusions in here, and I fully respect people who are man enough to admit it. You could still be a lawyer, as apparantly neverdespairgirl is one and she has jumped to a few.

Ok Bob technically you are correct. If I analysed it, this weekend might cost me about a fiver. I will just have to play more golf to get the £490 ratio to games played down and then soon I will be playing £2 a round.

Of course I do (in fact I'll be getting the rounds in tomorrow - not tying my laces haha). I was just pointing out that spending £490 on golf doesn't equate to free.

If you buy a sofa at DFS deferring payment for a year, is that free?

    Have a nice weekend ;)

And even at £2 a round it is still not free.
When you screw up on the basic details like this it is easy to lose the argument.

Enjoy the Golf and I hope you do well in your competition
