I have been lurking on this forum and am appalled at how anyone with anything positive to say about house prices is immediately shouted down. House prices will bounce back, just like they always do. In fact, savvy investors are already starting to snap up bargains. A lot of people seem to be harbouring jealousy and bitterness at the financial success which has been enjoyed by canny property investors over the last decade.

Hi, I am sure I recognise you from housepricecrash.co.uk? You probably made the right choice, they're easier to wind up in here.londonlandlady wrote: »I have been lurking on this forum and am appalled at how anyone with anything positive to say about house prices is immediately shouted down. I just suppose it gets shouted down because it's such an incredibly dangerous view. Some financially naive people might get badly hurt if they act on the notion that house prices are about to bounce back.
In fact, savvy investors are already starting to snap up bargains
Name three, please.
By the way, you're not that equestrian fella in disguise are you?No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

Of course and so they should be upset.0 -

This is typical as well - whenever anyone expresses a positive view on the housing market, it must inevitably be a "wind-up."
Of course things aren't looking good at the moment but the Nationwide and Halifax indices are exaggerating the falls. Prices have risen so much over the last ten years that they needed to pause for breath before resuming their upwards trajectory.0 -

Nice of you to join londonlandylady - welcome.
Hang on. HIHM? Is that possibly you?
Either way, with your username i can understand your VI but snapping up bargains? Buy one get one free at Tesco is snapping up a bargain. Spending hundreds of thousands on 30% grossly inflated houses is not quite the bargain i have in mind.

Just don't think that's believed. I saw a lot of pain and repossession during the early 90s from which recovery was very slow.
This one's compounded by so much more complexity and the greed and folly of the last few years. Hopefully, it will be better for young FTBs in the long run but what we've had hasn't been sustainable and it's going to be a long period of recovery and realignment.0 -

No, I am not "that equestrian fella."
I'm not going to publish three names on the internet but rest assured that auction rooms these days are packed with investors, and they are getting deals you wouldn't believe were true. When the market turns, they are going to make an absolute killing.
I know this because I'm one of them.0 -
