First weekend in December so this year it will be the 6th. Things start coming down after boxing day finishing with the main tree after new year (we have 3 trees in our house!) Good luck with the baby! x0

Christmas Eve they go up and 12th Night they come down.... Christmas day is always more special when you come down in the morning to your first sight of the decs... less is more they say and I think thats perfectly right... I try to have some natural decs , holly, ivy, berries etc from the garden and this year a small real tree with a few white lights... perfect...#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j

Decorations up on December 1st and packed away by Twelfth Night i.e. January 5th.
Hope you enjoy your first "family" Christmas, OP.0 -
Oh dear - I'll sound like a right 'bah humbug',........................lol
Ours go up the week before Christmas and come down 12th night.
Everyone else in our street seems to favour Dec.1st - maybe I'm just following the pattern of what my mum and dad did............lol :jMary

Mary mine used to be the same, except sometimes I would take my decs down on the 27th as it was only ever my son and I and he used to go to his dads on the 27th for a week so pointless sitting around moping under the christmas tree lol
Last year was my daughters first christmas, the tree was up on 1st december, however this was before I lived with OH and he didnt put up the tree here til christmas eve! we took it down 12 days later.
This year the decs will go up 12 days before (providing I can persuade OH) and will come down 12 days laterRaising kids is like being held hostage by midget terrorists0 -

congrates on the baby , well after reading the above i feel very sad, i love christmas and can never wait to put them up, they always go up the last weekend in november, but this year i will be putting them up on the 21st of november! this is because my son`s birthday is on the 22nd and he normally has party decs up but as he is not having a party this year the xmas decs will go up extra early. i have four children between 10wks and 7yrs and they are already excite about christmas.they see it in the shops from september so it does`nt hurt to have it up early. we nearly always take it down the day after boxing day as its looking messy by then. you have alot to celabrate this year so put them up as early as you like. xOne day I will live in a cabin in the woods0

I will probably put ours up around the second weekend in December, always take them down before New Year so that I can have a huge industrial clean out and light the scented candles and throw the windows open so everywhere is fresh and ready for the next year to begin!" Though no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start now and make a brand new ending. "0

Ours always go up on December 1st, and it's a huge family thing! We put on the xmas songs, and spend a few hours getting everything out with the girls' help.
They go away again before New Year though, I've had enough of them by then & want my living room back!!!!0 -
Up, Christmas eve by the fire with lovely home cooked goodies and spirits.
Down, the day after boxing day.
Our decs consist of one row of glittery blue lights draped over the mantelpiece.
The fire runs all over the time we are at home, much nicer to have that running than any other decs.
the family christmas is really about spending time together and eating good food, so that's what we do.
Thats what I would like to put them up xmas eve.
Every year I bow to pressure & they go up 12 days before xmas & start up for 12 days after, but 25 days really is too long to be looking at them.
I'm hoping to start a new trend this year, the weekend before xmas, rather than 12 days;)0
