Bin Men Getting Even More Lazy

Options
We put the bin out Tue morning at the end of our drive, Later on noticed that the other houses bins were empty but ours was not.

That's 3 times they have cooked up now in about 10 weeks.

A few weeks back we had a complete collection missed out.

And because of this we had to put black bags on top of the bin, Did they collect them NO.

There was a recent 'Blockade' of a bin wagon in Huddersfield by the angry residents who demanded there bins be emptied correctly.

The stand off was over an hour, And the binmen decided to empty the bins in defeat.

I am sick of them not doing a job they are paid to do.

kirklees binmen are getting 'lazy'

You should try our bolshie lot !

The root cause is that most of refuse collection is put out to contract. The result is that the Council has no direct control over the men on the street, as they don't work for them. The contractors know that if your (bloody minded) bin men don't empty your bin because "it doesn't smell of lavender" they merely have to quote the contract which the Council placed with them, which will not say anything, one way or the other about how the bins should smell. If the Council insist that all bins should be emptied whether they smell of lavender or not, the Contract will have to be amended at huge cost to the Council, and its taxpayers - another half a million a year, Guv !

This is why the Council invariably comes out with some weasel words like:- "it is not unreasonable for our refuse collection operatives to expect that the refuse they are handling at great personal risk to themselves is not emanating an unpleasant odour which they find offensive".

In other words:- stop moaning and pay your Council Tax !

Erm excuse me but I resent all this sexist behaviour thank you.

    BIN PERSON

    BIN PERSON

A woman could do that job. Granted a decade a go a bloke did the job but now we are in a different world you sexist men! EU directive states that even if you are a heavily pregnant (artificial insemination) Romanian left handed jewish lesbian you should be able to do a job ANY bloke could do if the employer is a civil service.

    You missed out one-legged !

That sounds awful. I live in Portsmouth and our bin men are fab! They come into my garden to collect the rubbish and my recycling bin, and return it. We usually have 6 or 7 bin bags full as we are 2 flats (downstairs is a family) and they always take them all. I dont know what I'd do if they didn't! Tori x

  • Most bin-persons will not go into your garden to collect the bin, and now we all have wheelie bins do not need to lift them. Again when they have been, the bins will be left in the middle of the road.
I can remember as a child when growing up, the bin man would walk down the entry into the back garden, and carry the heavy bin, often full of ashes then return the bin to where he got it.
What i wondered was, does anyone give the binman a tip at Christmas these days.

Bin men are weak wristed wusses. They just aren't as strong as binmen in years gone by.
Poor things might break a nail tugging those heavy ol' wheelie bins.
We need real men to do the job.

We have to leave the bin at the edge of the drive, with the lid closed flat, no additional rubbish, and the handle facing the road, otherwise it will not be emptied.

I've politely asked if they could return the bin to the side of the drive where I leave it, but they insist on leaving in smack in the middle of the drive, meaning I can't get onto the drive when I return home.

I've even sat patiently behind the lorry while it was stopped outside our house, and they've still left the bin in the middle of the drive, then all laughed at me when I had to get out of the car to shift it

As they don't have the manners to leave the bin to the side of the drive, we don't bother tipping them.
Here I go again on my own....

the majority of the bin men in my area are very lazy - dont bother to collect the bins - or manage to get the rubbish when tipping it into the lorry all over the street.

i think they manage that becuase most of them smoke cannabis whilst working

i know ive smelt it though the froont window
  • The reason binmen don't seem as hard working as they did is because from what I've heard they're often being driven like slaves. I've been told that there are the same number (if not less) of binmen doing more work i.e. household waste and recycling collections.

10 years ago waste collections would be done well before 5pm, now because of two collections (household + composting or recycling) they're often still working at 7pm.
