Is anyone currently trying to book with LD Lines? I have been telephoning and emailing for 6 days, have received conflicting infomation (different prices) for a group of 10 with one car and some footpassengers, travelling to Boulogne at the end of July, and today someone frankly confessed that they are understaffed (long term sick leave absentee) and struggling to cope. A manager is to phone or email me today. Is this a bad sign? I got my money back from Speedferries when they suddenly went under, but it makes me wary. One problem is that I have already booked the hotel for 10 in Boulogne, and this is the only ferry that goes to Boulogne (I anticipated more problems getting 10 people into a hotel than onto a ferry so did the hotel first....). Yes, I have looked into travelling to Calais and getting a train to Boulogne, but it's not as convenient.

One thing to bear in mind when booking through third parties is that they very often charge an 'admin' or 'handling fee' if you need to make any changes to your booking. When booking through Eurotunnel directly these are not charged. I dealt with a customer this week who had inadvertantly booked his crossing in the wrong direction, it was all corrected within an hour but it cost him a £25 Handling Charge which was applied by the agency, not Eurotunnel. Also, we could not deal with him directly because his contract was with the agency not Eurotunnel, so he had all the problems of trying to contact an online Company, when a quick 'phone call could have sorted it out with us, just something to think about.

I've seen £44 overnight Eurotunnel crossings advertised if that helps? I know P&O ferries sometimes offer £19 crossings?

These £44 fares are for travel either out and back on the same day or out one day and back the next, they are not cheaper fares for travelling at night over a long period ITMS

Ah, I didn't realise that to be honest, just saw it advertised but didn't read much about it!

I actually first heard of Ferrysavers from my mum of all people... Apparently they've been around for years, used to be you phoned them to book your tickets rather than using the internet. Seem to be quite an old brand which maybe gives them a bit more 'trust' than the newer ones.

Last time I booked a ferry was a stena line one using AFerry.co.uk (not allowed to put the link in!:rotfl:), had a cheaper price than everywhere else, only by a quid or so, but that was one more £ towards the beer fund!

Just booked with Norfolkline for the end of the month, at very reasonable times, for £49. I mostly use them because they are usually unbeatable, no agents, third parties, etc. Dover-Dunkirk, that is...., and back.
