Have you tried checking out the cost of two day return fares? I have occasionally found it cheaper!
I absolutely agree with you! I am sure that the cost is higher due to lack of competition!0 -
I cant believe prices have changed so much since I asked...
It was £120ish back then, and £175 now!!! What has happened to send prices through the roof like this? Can anyone help with discounts (other than Clubcard points), as we need them more than ever now!

Hi Rev,
I've taken the trouble to check back on your postings - so you are looking for a peak season crossing on the Chunnel?
What are your limitations.
Why the Chunnel - the crossing that tries to maintain a market position as the "premium" product, in spite of the fires and other blockages.?0 -
Thanks John. Im thinking chunnel as I have a 2yr old that will be with us, so want to drive during the night to get some of the journey done whilst he's asleep...and if he's asleep we cant go on the ferry as you're not allowed to stay in the car for the crossing, plus it takes an extra hour which is an hour I could be driving.
Surely June is not peak season? None of the kids are off school then.:A Luke 6:38 :AThe above post is either from personal experience or is my opinion based on the person God has made me and the way I understand things. Why don't these sites tell you about the cheap crossings from Newhaven?????
We like the Newhaven - Dieppe route. New boats, good road links. The only downside is that they do not sell newspapers and the food is expensive and poor so we take a picnic.0 -
Newhaven might be an option, as it's only 20mins away from us, and we can get the ferry stage out of the way earlier that way, leaving us more time to travel while he sleeps in the car overnight...I like it

Ok, correction!
It costs more for a Transmarche ferry leaving at one of the ONLY two slots in the day, 09:30 or 23:00 and travelling for 6 (six!) hours, than it does for a Eurotunnel 30min journey???:A Luke 6:38 :AThe above post is either from personal experience or is my opinion based on the person God has made me and the way I understand things. It depends on what you prefer, quickness and ease of the tunnel or scenery of going by ferry?
