...but for me to go to Dover is further than Folkestone for the Eurotunnel, so it actually makes less travel sense to do Ferry after all. It's more the fact that you all need to get out of the car on Ferrys that is the pain, as I'd rather leave the boy to sleep for the journey too if I can

Does any one know if there are any promotions in the horizon for that weekend?

I think that due to the Le Mans race they hicked the price 3-fold! (from £70 to £193)

Even LDlines have gone more expensive than their xmas fares and worst of all, I couldn't care less about the racing as I'm going for a family engagement.

Help! I don't want to buy at those ridiculous prices only to find that later they'll bring them down to normal levels.

    Cheers!

Can you maybe travel a day earlier or later? If it avoids the 'peak' periods you could potentially save a bundle.

Im still struggling to find any travel info for less than £150-200, when it used to be £80-120 only a few weeks ago :?

I've seen £44 overnight Eurotunnel crossings advertised if that helps? I know P&O ferries sometimes offer £19 crossings?

Hi - I've been looking at all the threads on this forum, and still can't seem to find a clear post on where it is best to sail from in the UK in order to get to Western France. I suppose we could take the cheap ferry Dover - Dunkirk, but that involves so much driving, and our holiday is in Brittany. Any leads?

    Thanks, Julie

P.S. If this post is just a 'reply' and not an official 'post,' can someone tell me how to create a new post, rather than a reply?

    Hi Julie,
    Welcome to MSE.
These people are trying to expand (might fail ?)

    John.

PS Check the Michelin maps for which motorways are toll free.
As I understand it, where the French have taken the EU subsidies to build the new road network in their less favoured regions, they are not allowed to put tolls on them.

PPS I got some amazingly cheap Eurotunnel crossings off this "bucket shop" once upon a financial crisis - they try to cover all the operators, but are not always able to undercut going direct to the carrier.

Re: above. Where are you at the moment? Portsmouth could be a better departure place?
