tiscali would not be in buiness if their service was how the OP described for everyone who signed with them, he is the exception and unlike orange tiscali arent losing record numbers of customers in a short space of time.

Actually, they are losing a record number of customers. People are fed up of them, up and leave to anyone but them. Also they are known for their problems. If you look around on broadband sites you'll see that Tiscali has the lowest ratings and if you look on ispreview.co.uk and look at their complaints statistics, Tiscali has the greatest number of complaints. That says alot about Tiscali.

I think everybody wonders how the heck they are in business after such rubbish support.

You are probably one of the extremely lucky and rare ones whose not had to deal with their CS or any of the other !!!!! that they throw at their customers.

It made me laugh when Tiscali bought Pipex. They just added more shi-te to themselves, two pieces of *&6$ together. Very well done. And now Tiscali are up for sale on the market. Shame nobody wants them. They probably don't want to have to deal with a millions of complaints. And part of the reason they are up for sale is because they are losing their customers pretty fast.

Op, to answer your question, at the moment it seems no. I'm not even in a contract with them yet I'm getting charged for a service no longer provided for them so I feel your pain. Can't seem to get them out of my life. If I ever do, I'll be sure to let you know. ;-)

my friend was with Pipex for years and years.

That's probably the reason why. The people who were with them when they used to be a good company always say that.

I used to work for Nildram in their Tech Support department and as such I had Nildram broadband (paid for).

Since Tiscali took over they totally screwed my home connection and if I ever ring the support team they dont have a clue what they are doing!

As such I requested my MAC code last week, and would you know it...... they cant generate it.
  • It's now been a month since ordering phone and broadband from Tiscali. They said it would take 10 working days from taking the order to connect the broadband. Everyone there since has denied this is the case.

They connected the phone but last week said it would take two days to sort the blockage then a futher 2 weeks to get the broadband. Yesterday they said they didn't know how long it would take. At no point have they contacted us.

I called BT who said Tiscali hadn't even put a marker / tag on the line details which is the FIRST thing that happens when broadband is ordered!!

Consumer Direct say that as they missed the 10 working days they proposed, and I accepted, that they have breached the contract. BT say they can install broadband and deliver the modem next Wednesday.

I have now sent a letter, special delivery, cancelling the broadband.

I am very disappointed as I took the recommendation from MSE and needed the Broadband up and running as soon as possible:(
  • Tiscali is driving me crazy too, I waited one week until they connected my phone which was ok but it has been two weeks since and still no broadband. I was told that it would take up to 7-14 days to set up my broadband after connecting my phone line. So I called Tiscali to learn when the modem will arrive and after countless attempts to reach a authorizad person I finally learned that my modem will arrive at 28th of October! -and it took 2 days to get this answer from the same person who kept transfering me to technical service who never answer..

So I'm really !!!!ed off but I chose Tiscali after struggling with BT for one week- they kept asking me different amounts of deposits every time I phoned them and I felt like I was being ripped off (only if I knew better...)

I'm having a nightmare since I moved my house with all these so-called service providers but I don't have any other options unfortunately. Tiscali is driving me crazy but still they have the best offer for line+broadband+TV so I guess I have to learn living with Tiscali after all...

Consumer Direct, Government Agency, told me to write a letter quoting the original period stated by the salesman and using the legal phrase 'Time is of the essence' giving them a deadline e.g. 7 days. I took their alternative suggestion, as mentioned above, of saying that they'd breached the contract and the broadband was hereby cancelled.
  • I have been dealing directly with the High Level Complaints team at Tiscali. These individuals have a different approach. They can actually speak and understand English which is a plus. However, they feel the need to phone me approximately 15 times a day (only 6 times today though) and each time they phone I have no idea what they are jabbering on about. They also email me every 90 minutes or so, each email seems utterly unrelated to the last. I have BEGGED them to let me close my account and take my business elsewhere but they've ignored my request and now just phone and email me constantly. I really can't take much more.

I already tried to transfer my phone line (which is with Tiscali) over to Direct Save Telecom but DST wrote back saying they can't transfer my phone because it's not a BT line. !!!!!!? What sort of line is it then? What have Tiscali done to my frickin phone line? Who can I transfer it to? I called BT and begged them to take over my Tiscali landline, but they said they can't find trace of any line at my property with any such number. I really don't want to lose my phone number and I don't know what to do at this point. I am willing to transfer my Tiscali landline over to ANY company as long as it is not part of Tiscali.

Anyone reading this, please learn from my mistakes and stay well, well away from Tiscali. They are just insane.
  • WHYSOHARD. The reason you don't have a BT line anymore is because you have been put on tiscali LLU. main point is DO NOT CANCEL ANYTHING WITH TISCALI. contact BT and arrange a transfer back for line rental. ( you might not want BT but they are only company that can put your line back to pstn line for free ) If you cancel with tiscali your line will be a ceased line and you will have to pay a new provider to connect (BT £124.99 post office £110 ithink.)

Thanks for this post. What is LLU?

What is the process for getting BT to take me back? When I called BT and gave them my Tiscali phone number and my address they could not "find" me...
