Hi hotcookie
it sounds like youve made you mind up already but for what its worth I got this for xmas and was disappointed. I subscribe to BBC Good Food and many of the recipes are featured in the magazine, or are on the Jamie website. I agree with many of the other posts that this is more for people who are just starting to cook. I don't know whether to take this back and get a gift voucher or save it for my boys when they leave home! compingirl xCC Debt: Jan 10 £21,660 now £8,170 hurrah!0 -
I'm an accomplished cook (even if I do say so myself:rotfl:) but I love this because it's full of really simple stuff that I can get on the table in under 30mins. I'm always on the hunt for quick and easy after work meals, and I save the more involved cooking for the weekend. Quite a few new ideas for me.
(Also Rick Stein's Coast to Coast is utterly fab!)0 -

NO, I keep all my cookbooks in the bookshelves in my living room, then they are easily accessable. Just had more bookshelves built actually, I love them.
I tend not to buy magazines though except "25 Beautiful homes"0 -

Same here - I don't have the MOF book but you can never have enough quick and easy midweek meal recipes / recipe ideas.
I bought myself Coast to Coast as a Xmas present from me to me and agree it is fab (even though I have 3 other Rick Stein books and as C to C is a compilation of his favourites I have some of the recipes already). Will be trying the Matar Paneer this week as that looks like a quick and easy meal (cheese and peas!).
Another really good book for beginner cooks is First Time Cook by Sophie Grigson which is half price at amazon at the moment (£6.50) - even though I am not a beginner I found lots of stuff in there I wanted to cook and I think it's a great cookbook for beginners and experienced cooks alike."The happiest of people don't necessarily have the
best of everything; they just make the best
of everything that comes along their way."

I have found one of the best things for me for quick teas/ideas etc is Easy Cook magazine. I have had it from when it started and swear by it. They are all in plastic covers to protect them from getting tatty with all the recipes I like with page highlighters. They live on a shelf in the kitchen for quick access to them as well!Mortgage, we're getting there with the end in sight £6587 07/23, otherwise free of the debt thanks to MSE help!0 -
Another good place to find ideas for quick and easy midweek suppers is the BBC Good Food website which has all the recipes from BBC Good Food magazine and Olive magazine. The link above has all the main course recipes which take between 10 and 30 minutes in order of user rating. You can change the filter to main courses in 10 minutes or less but then you get a lot less recipes obviously (around 20)."The happiest of people don't necessarily have the
best of everything; they just make the best
of everything that comes along their way."

There is a trial offer on this magazine at the moment - 3 issues for £1.

Just cancel the direct debit after the £1 is taken if you don't want to continue the sub.
Had a look at the sample pages online [have a peek inside button] and it looks good (I downloaded most of the pages to a pdf and printed out the recipes).
P.S. The Matar Paneer recipe in Rick Stein's Coast to Coast was delicious and very easy - will be making it again next week. Might fry the paneer seperately just before serving though and add it at the last minute so it stays crispy. If I was making it for other people I might tone down the heat a bit too - quite spicy, but for my taste it was great, had it with Naan and a cold Kingfisher beer."The happiest of people don't necessarily have the

of everything that comes along their way."
