    hiya,

I wholeheartedly agree with whats been said about Julie, to me it seemed as though she was a bit jealous in the cookery class that Tash took. Yes it was a simple green salad, but isnt that the point?? sometimes green salads are just a nice accompaniment to a meal, or the starting point for a more filling salad IYSWIM.

she also seems to smirk each time she says that she doesnt think it will work, and when she said she knew of at least 4 people who were ready to leave she was beaming! i can understand her being peeved with JO for what he said over burgergate, but she is just coming across as a silly woman who wants him to fail. its a shame that she has been brought into the class as they were getting on nicely! shes like a poison dwarf! :rotfl: :rotfl:

I agree with the comments about Julie on the programme, she had her 15 minutes of fame with the chips through the school gates thing and now she wants it to carry on, plus getting a plug for her daughter's salon by getting her to cut Jamie's hair  He mentioned later on about how bad "his barnet" was looking, I wonder if that bit was filmed before or after the haircut!
She winds me up too, especially the way she just invited herself to the cooking class then stirred trouble, I think she see's herself as Jamies no.2 like the dinner lady in Jamies School Dinners. She doesn't expect the experiment to work, she seems like she doesn't even want it to work, she just wants to be seen on telly giving Jamie a hard time.

Call me an old cynic, and I haven't watched the programme so I don't actually know what the heck I'm talking about:D but could she not have been 'persuaded' to gatecrash the classes by the programme makers in order to stir things up? Viewing figures and all that.....

Are you related to my DH, or do you just share the same view:rotfl: :rotfl: This is why we don't watch any "reality" TV. He's so convinced it's all "stage managed" and "set up", that I couldn't watch through his comments:D But to be honest, I suspect that he, and you, are right;) Let's face it, the highest viewing figures seem to follow the "confrontational" programs.

Reality tv progs are a total waste of leccy but I was assuming they had a more responsible approach in this case  but you've given me something to think about and I think you could well be right! I shall be ready with the off switch if things go any further downhill. ;)

  • ohhhh...i cant even watch it...makes my blood boil.

those folk "who cant cook and live on takeaways" must have spent their childhood with their eyes shut and not have one oz of common sense. cmon...you odnt need to be a rocket scientist to do the most basic cooking

if they can manage to get their washing into the machine and switched on...operate a pc...all the other most basic stuff to everyday living then they can flipping well cook..,.no excuses.

Well at the risk of being flamed I left home at 15 unable to cook. My mum only had Whisky in the evenings and I would usually just hide in my room till the next morning, sometimes if she'd passed out I go and get what I could from the cupboard, usually dry cereal or a jam sandwich as I didn't want to hang around in case she woke. Dad worked as a long distance lorry driver so he was only around at weekends.

I couldn't afford to live on take aways, thankfully I had my dinner at work most days and got by on fishfingers sandwiches, and ready made lasagne type stuff in the evenings and weekends.

It was only when I was pregnant (my husband doesn't cook and neither does his mum), that I took the time to eat even remotley healthily. I honestly think it was the first time I'd had had veg in years.

Everyone says learning to cook is easy, but it's not. Or at least it wasn't for me. Can you imagine how humiliating it is having to ask the greengrocer which part of the spring onions you can eat?

Following a recipe isn't the same as understanding a recipe, not does it mean you can cook. Many recipes are overcomplicated and to be honest frightening to someone who has never even made tea before.

I really feel that just having someone spend a little bit of time now and then would have made my life so much easier. Well done Jamie Oliver. Too many of us missed out on valuable life skills and have suffered for it.

debtmuncher...try reading the above post, it may give you a little understanding of what some people have to go through in life. Not everything in life is as simple as you may like it to be.

  • thankyou for that post bertie:D ....i do have an understanding due to my own life experiences :p i find it incredibly frustating that people wont make an effort to do things because "i cant do it". they can but wont put the effort in. its sad really because achieving whatever it is is a massive confidence booster.

I've just watched the second episode of this and I could honestly have slapped Julie. Ok salad on its own is not that thrilling but did she have to be so nasty? I bet she was jealous because Natasha took the class.

At the end when she was saying that she knew 4 people who were thinking of leaving the class could she have smirked any more? To say that one of them was her, if I were Jamie I would have said "go then and good riddance". She said there was a bad atmosphere in the class - yes caused by her no doubt. Also to say she does not like back stabbers when she is clearly one is a bit rich.

I really do not like the woman and wish she was not in it.
