Anyone having trouble obtaining the cone bags could try using normal cellophane and making the cones. I think someone mentioned going to a Florist and seeing if they would sell you some. Officially Debt Free Nov 2012 :beer:0

Made some snowman soup tonight for a friend, but decided to put it in a jar instead. This one is the prototype might fiddle about a bit and make a few different ones.
I used the large sized douwe egbert coffee jar, instant hot choc, white and milk choc chips and mini marshmallows.
the hot choc ws (54p), choc chips (38p) and (42p )and marshmallows 90p but only used 1/3 of bag (30p). Canes were 89p for 18 in quality save, so bout 20p for the 4 i used.
Used a circle of smart price wrap (16p for roll) to cover top of jar, used matching smart price gift label (40p for 20)
I pt the marshmallows in a bag and added a closer of the matching gift wrap then put all together in smart price gift bag from same design (19p)
All told my jar of snowman soup cost about £2.06 including the gift bag. Just have a ribbon and poem label to put on and it is finished.:D
Forgot to add - between the layers i used the cellophane circles that I got from lakeland for making quarter pound burgers0 -
As promised feedback on our school xmas fayre. We had a table with flannel cakes. flannel reindeer, snowman soup, reindeer oat, flannel logs and slipper socks in muffin cases.Snowman soup went really well at £1.50 .I got the impression people would have paid a bit more.:T Mariae.0

I was thinking for the inner perhaps a cut off corner of a sandwich bag and then use cello wrap cut to size for the outer layer. I Would be interested to know if anyone has tried it, and did it look tacky and unprofessional?
The photos look amazing. It might be a shame to compromise for a few pence but if you're making loads it might be worth it.
A great idea, i think i recall reading on this thread( or might of been another one  ) That someone tried something similar.. I actually have a roll of patterned cellophane here.So i think i might just have a go...
Right off to get all my bits and bobs out and have a playfurrypig says:my name is Choccy and I am addicted to nose free stamps as I want to save them all and give them noses!!!:rotfl:

Hi, I did the hot choc in a sandwich bag corner but i just put all the bits inside a gussetted clear cello party bag instead of making it all into a cone. They looked really nice, I had the marshmallows done the same way as the hot choc, I put choc buttons in some cello card bags and cut them down and sellotaped them. Then everything was put inside the party bags and tied up with curling ribbon. Instead of using the labels on here I just printed out labels saying snowman soup and stuck them on the front of the bags. I didnt buy candy canes but if I get some befor exmas Il tie one onto the top with some more curling ribbon.0 -
Hayley, the cones look fantastic, espcially how the tags match the ribbon - really classy. Can I ask what programme you used on the computer, and is the print white on the purple paper? It actually looks like silver, but I've tried before to get silver or gold ink and was told there isn't any. Even details like font would help! I want to do some for teachers, so agree with Curious George that the first bit of the rhyme deosn't seem to be appropriate for my son's teachers - "you've been really good this year" sort of thing!
Really hope to get some started soon, but there's still so much on my list to do.
Hi and thankyou
I used photoshop to design the tags.
I printed the tags on white card. The writing is silver, but really just uses a mixture of ink to create the look of silver. I'm guessing it is mainly black in various strengths.
I didn't use that particular rhyme.... I used the following
'When it's so cold that
You holler and whoop,
It's time to bring out
The Snowman Soup!
Pour the chocolate in a mug,
Add the snowballs too
And throw in the kisses
From the snowman to you.
Now add some hot milk
And use the cane to stir it
Sip slowly and soon you'll
Feel the warm winter spirit.
