Hi, thank you all for this fabulous Christmas present idea.
Here are some I've made today. I used two cones as recommended by others on this thread and used choc chips and mini marshmallows from my partners pub. I bought the bags off ebay and got 12 candy canes for a pound. I already had the ribbon and designed the tags on my comp and printed them onto card.

  • i know this is a silly question but when making the snowman soup, do you add the hot chcolate to the cup 1st then water then choc chips and marsh mallows, only asking as my son just tried one and poured everything into the cup and we could only fit a tiny bit of water in,
and also if you do put hot choc in 1st where do you put the choc chips and marshmallows that were in the cone

told you it was a silly question

    many thanks

Most cones will likely make two cups. Hot choc is usually three heaped tea spoons of powder mixed with water or hot milk then a wee bit of choc chip and marshmallows on the top. They will eventually melt in to the hot choc.

  • I received my cones today from Vanda also :)
Ordered 5th November, so just over 2 weeks :(

I however am thinking now that i should buy some of the disposible icing bags from lakeland. Since people are recommending using 2 per snowman soup. I only bought 15 bags :(

So my job for tomorrow is to make a couple up and see what i think. Photos will follow ( if i can manage to post them on here) I have everything here i need. So a nice early snowman soup making friday for me

what chocolate did you all use? an instant just add water one or drinking chocolate and add milk
I just brought sainsburys basic instant chocolate to try but when dry it
doesn't look very chocolate coloured and when made up a bit watery and
    not very creamy.
Was trying to use cheap one as trying to save money for selling them at school fair
    Any recomendations thanks

Hayley, the cones look fantastic, espcially how the tags match the ribbon - really classy. Can I ask what programme you used on the computer, and is the print white on the purple paper? It actually looks like silver, but I've tried before to get silver or gold ink and was told there isn't any. Even details like font would help! I want to do some for teachers, so agree with Curious George that the first bit of the rhyme deosn't seem to be appropriate for my son's teachers - "you've been really good this year" sort of thing!

Really hope to get some started soon, but there's still so much on my list to do.
  • Finally got round to making some snowman soup. I used Galaxy Hot Chocolate in mine.

  • Chocolate.orange - Since reading that a few of you have had problems with ebay sellers, I was also wondering if there was an alternative to buying the cones? I was thinking for the inner perhaps a cut off corner of a sandwich bag and then use cello wrap cut to size for the outer layer. I Would be interested to know if anyone has tried it, and did it look tacky and unprofessional?
The photos look amazing. It might be a shame to compromise for a few pence but if you're making loads it might be worth it.
  • I've finally got round to making mine. I've since added the tags but took photo before then, it was surprisingly easy. DD age 6 helped me. For the adult ones I used Cadbury's hot chocolate but for the kids I used Tesco's own hot chocolate, I don't think the kids'll notice the difference.
