I *had* to get out today, two days of self-enforced rest for Christmas and I was ready to climb the curtains! :D

Road running will happen eventually, I would prefer it as I live near the New Forest and the seafront, so to be able to run there would be wonderful. Making the most of the natural scenery!

Just can't believe I'm so active these days, a few short weeks ago what I've done today would have near killed me!

My new jogging bottoms are bad luck! I've never had a good run in them. Today's was particularly bad.

It might have partly been because it was far too cold and I'm a bit tired, but I mostly blame the jogging bottoms.

Another 30 minute run today..... very pleased with myself.

Will be starting to increase the gradient from the next run, to make it more of a challenge...

Wish me luck, and when you've all finished the turkey, chocolate, pudding and wine you can join me again...! :T

    Getting lonely in here...and spooky...

Probably best to be sure you're fully fit, especially if you're planning to run outside in the cold air...at least to start with.

I have to be careful as I have some lung damage from whooping cough as a child and can get out of breath easily.

All the best with it, PD, we're all here to help and support you, and we all started the same way as you!

Just think how much better you will feel in a few months' time, knowing you have done it!!!! :T:T:T

pants just lost all my post when my battery died !!!

well im back anyway - my daughter killed my laptop about 6 weeks ago but i now have a new one
i have still been running - albeit on my cushy treadmill ;)
however im not very happy with my progress
i ditched robert over his choice of music - i have been using some fabulous podcasts of music i found online - did post the links on here before

i am just not seeing any consistency - some days i run for 10 mins some 15 some 20 but others i struggle to get to 5
i normally do 5 mins warm up 10/12 mins run 5 mins recovery and aim for 8 more mins run but is often just 5 then 5 min cool down
its always 30/35 mins and is 3 or 4 times a week
when i do a 20 min run it feels so good but then the next time i feel so bad when i can only manage 10
in the new year i think i need to get back to robert despite his choice in music
cant believe im still doing this 10 weeks on !!

happy fit new year all xx

I hope you mean the running....

Oooh would be a couple of months, would look back in the thread to be sure but can't be @r$ed... :rotfl:

So pleased with how much better I'm feeling, I've also got some better music to run to than Robert's poddies, (although they were great for getting me started) I find it helps me through the last ten minutes or so. I look forward to listening to it and it's a good incentive to get kitted up and off down the gym as I only listen to it when I'm training.

    Get yourself better!! xx

Are you keeping a diary or making a mental note of what is happening the day before you run?
I had a self-enforced two-day break over Christmas, ate lots of carbs, and was gagging to get up the gym on Boxing Day as I felt I needed to run. My 30 minute run seemed super-easy and I actually did 33 mins, with 2 mins of faster running at the end.

Now, if I'd tried to repeat that the next day without eating enough carbs in the meantime I would have probably crashed out around the 15 minute time - purely because I had no reserves left.

    In short...
    Are you rested enough?
Are you having enough carbs to build up your energy reserves?
    Are you completely well?
Good music helps - it's a mental preparedness thing... if I tried to run without my regular fix of Pendulum then I'd not do as well. Tried Metallica, not so good for running (personally speaking!)

Have a think about it and you may find some answers yourself... :A

    All the best, Eph xxxx
