Oooo ta
. It still amazes me every day that I can do this.
I was discussing with my sister-in-law a couple of weeks ago about the stage you get to in running where your mental 'strength' almost takes over from your physical strength.
You'll get to a stage when your lungs stop wanting to explode and your legs drop off (honest - it will happen- and sooner than you think). Then you'll need to be able to keep going for that one extra lamppost distance, that one extra 100 steps, that extra minute.
I joined the Womens Running Network who were organising a complete beginners group. That was fantastic because you're less likely to stop if you're running with someone else. The first time I ran 5k was because I'd had a bit of an argument with my husband and neither of us wanted to be the first one to stop and take a breather.
Good luck to all of you running today. I've just been out over the fields with my pack of idiot dogs and, although it was quite blustery, it was lovely and sunny. I'm going to have a nice banana sandwich for breky, leave it for an hour or so to take effect and then go out later on. I'm going to try for my long route today. If I put it down in black and white I might actually manage it

I would recommend looking around for any 5k fun runs that maybe in your area.
Its a good way of getting yourself out, and when running in a large group the time fly's past.
Im unsure what times you are running, but the last one i did was in 32mins, which is pretty poor as the winner was 17mins. Though, i picked someone to run with (well behind) and stuck to there pace.0 -
Though, another one to aim for is next years 'Great North Run'.
Its 13miles, but probably 4 hours running in all...0 -

I feel awful.
I've just come back from run 3, and during the 6th interval I couldn't run any more. I didn't want to, but I just stopped and walked the last 5 seconds or so. I feel like such a failure.Murphy's No More Pies Club #209

Now stop that or I'll be round to slap your wrists!
You ran as far as your body would let you and stopped before you did yourself a mischief. Knowing when to stop is very important. We're in this for the long haul not just one day's results.I once knew a man who ran until he broke one of the bones in the bottom of his leg because he didn't stop when it was really hurting. Nutter!!
We all have rough days. You had one today. On the positive side you are fitter than you were yesterday. That bit of extra fitness will help you next time you go out. I had a rough day on Sunday and only managed to go half as far as I wanted. Today I managed a personal best distance.
For you today was just one tiny hiccup in the programme. Don't let it get you down. You are not a failure. You are a runner who had a bad day. Rest and have another go in a couple of days.
You cannot live as I have lived an not end up like me.
