Week 4!!!??? OMG poor you...How long are the runs on week 4?

Do you really want to know ?

First rum 3 mins - OK,but panting well by the end
90 sec recovery - not long enough !

2nd run 5 mins - think you are going to die

2 1/2 mins recovery - my advise is to find a convenient bench and have a quick lie down

3rd run 3 mins - just keep going & remember to smile as if you are enjoying it

90 sec recovery - time for the oxygen !!!

Last run 5 Min's - You may start to hallucinate at this point ,and several elderly people may pass you!!!! the only thing that will keep you going is the thought of getting in that little black dress by Xmas

Hi,justb a couple of tips which helped me along the way when I did Couch to 5k first time around. When you are doing your walking interval, try to keep the pace "quite brisk",I know you feel like walking at snails pace to recover, but it really does help to improve your overall fitness over the weeks.
Another thing that helped me is when the running intervals are for differn't times i.e on week three the first run is for 90 sec the 2nd for 3 mins, try going faster on the shorter runs, then slowing your pace down for the longer run.
Just started week 3 this morning- the 3-minute runs were a bit of a shock to the system, but I found your tips very helpful for getting through it, Notslass! Thanks:T

Also there are only 4 runs in total- don't know if it's psychological but it seems to go by much quicker than in the ones with more runs (iyswim).

Oh my god, so that's what I have to look forward to

  • Hi i came across this thread the other day and have decided to give running/jogging a go . I was just wondering what you all wear and some ideas of any shops that do cheap clothes to go out running in. All I've seen so far in the shops are skin tight cropped trousers :o.

Aldi have winter running gear in at the moment as a special- if you're lucky they may have some left at yours. It's long running trousers, long-sleeved top and jacket. Also lots of accessories such as ear-warmers, gloves, socks etc.

At the moment I'm wearing summer gear from Lidl (cropped pants etc.)- not sure when their next special will be, but should be soon as they're usually twice a year, and I got mine in the summer.

Other than that I don't suppose it's really necessary to have specialist stuff to run in- whatever you're comfortable wearing- jogging trousers or whatever. Apparently it's supposed to be best to have material that 'wicks' moisture away from your skin, so cotton is not suitable as when you sweat it just stays wet!
