Hi there, I have just picked up in this thread and have found it quite inspiring. I'm a gym goer but tend to not use the treadmill very much (only for a 10-15 min brisk walk) as I have found I just cannot run - as everything hurts. Just wanted to know how often a week you peeps go running (i go to the gym three times a week - is this enough?). I'm about 9.5 stones and would like to lose about half a stone (maybe a bit more) but my my main motivation is to become a lot fitter than I am.
Any words of encouragement?? Maybe I should give it a go? Where do I get these podcasts from?
Thanks in advance

I have been pretty much following the programme now since christmas and am really enjoying it. Every week I think I can't possibly manage the next week's programme and yet I do! I'm varying between running inside and outside according to the weather and how I feelDo take a look and see what you think. BTW the first time I ran at all I felt knackered, the best advice is to take it slow and if you're feeling tired slow down a bit more. Think of it as a trot rather than a run
this made a huge difference to me, and particularly to being able to run for longer.
Oh and I'm taking the concept of a week a bit liberally, some of my weeks have had 10 daysbut I figure I'll get there in the end.
Second run of week 4 completed this morningin the gym because it was really icy outside. 16 minutes running in total, 6 at 8k per hour, 10 at 7.5k per hour

Hi BelfastGirl23! Thanks for the information! I've just checked out this website and the plan doesn't seem too scary (well the initial weeks anyway!). I'll think I'll give it a go and see how I get on. I'm off to the gym after work so I will try it out today. I'm hoping i don't fail at the first hurdle and give up but I will use this thread as an inspiration.

Hi PepPop - thanks for the link, another good one. How are you finding this one? Easy/hard, challenging but do-able? Have you managed to lose some weight as well?

Gops I find it really easy - but to be honest my willpower is shocking at the moment so I keep having to restart it. OH gave me a talking to about treating exercise like a job (something you just do and not think of reasons to pull a sicky) so I'll keep you updated.0

I used to run a lot and even completed a half marathon a couple of years ago. Since then, I have been injured completed a masters degree and become really lazy. I intend on starting to run again (and I would say it will be from scratch as I am pretty unfit right now), so I hope I have come to the right place for inspiration and support and I hope I can join in...
This is more or less the same as me.I will be following your progress with interest, maybe we can even become born again running buddies!!!
