Hi, just thought i'd let you guys know, I managed my first day yesterday - wasn't too bad. And also managed a 30min stint on the cross-trainer as well!!

I know it says you shouldn't do days training in a row but its going to have to be this week as I have a choca weekend and want to get my first week done before the end of the week... so another training session today and one tomorrow as well...

Hi Gops, I'm using the Robert Ullrey podcast based on the Couch to 5K, you can download free from itunes and listen as you are running, he tells you when to run and when to walk. Music can sometimes be iffy, but is good having that little voice in your head ;)

    Good luck with it all!

Thanks for the other links PepPop and BelfastGirl ... anything helps!

I was all ready to do mammoths amounts of exercise this week, but the removal of a mole from my shoulder has put me out of action for approx. 3 weeks in all once stitches removed. :(

But i'll be jumping back on the bandwagon then! Keep up the great work everyone :)

Hi Sarsief. Thanks for that, i will probably download the podcasts as I messed up my run/walk yesterday as I somehow ended up doing about a minute more (which is not right)... all good I suppose.

Can i ask how far were you into the programme?

4 weeks!! Well i think that is quite good as (even though i'm determined now) i can see after a couple of weeks, me giving up. I have not really had any problems with the first weeks workout - today is my last workout for week 1) but I can see I may need to do some of the latter weeks a few times before i can progress onto the next.

I have to say i've never been a runner and the thought of me saying that i am is motivating me even more!

Hi all, well that's week 4 over and I've just had a look at week 5. Gulp. By the end of next week I will be running 2 miles non-stop :) or 20 minutes. This sounds so unlikely I can't quit believe it :) I have a feeling week 5 might be a 2-week week if you see what I mean.

    How you all going?

Edit **spot the freudian mistake of I can't quit :) ***

I'm onto week 3 and I feel like this! It feels like quite a big step up from weeks 1 and 2. But I'm determined to give it a good go:eek:

Tomorrow is a rest day, so week 3, day 1 will be tuesday...

Good luck everyone- keep going :j

I have the couch to 5k podcasts on my shuffle, planned on getting fit etc. but found it really hard. I was 50 last year and had done no exercise since before my son, now 22, was born.
Then last year did a Race for Life, but walked it with a friend who usually jogged, we walked it only 30 seconds slower than she normally jogged. So it turns out that when the podcast said rest and walk, I was walking too fast!

Have entered 2 more Race for Life this year, so will try again. Didn't know this thread was here until someone pointed me at it.
