Happy sunny BH weekend :j. :)

'wax man' :rotfl:is at golf, DS in bed & DD coming home at lunchtime (& picked up a MS at station so an extra £5 and a nice big coffee to share on the way home) . Am test driving a car for her - she is due to get one from work but hasn't driven since she passed her test so needs a few refresher lessons390.gif:)

Postie just been. I guess you really know you're grown up when you don't get a flicker of excitement when you hear the letters drop :o. On this occasion it was justified as he brought 3 envelopes from a MS co who pay by cash (), so £40 to OP pot :)

However, there are a further 4 jobs, all done prior to one they have paid me for, which haven't been paid. Will ring them Tuesday :(

Postie also brought updated pension statement. Hmmm, haven't examined it yet but suspect rather than a :) or a :( it will be a .

Another little MS payment in, plus £10 from expenses transferred to offset during the week :)

I got a £250 bonus, so that, along with my new monthly overpayment of £270 (plus £280 car money & £100 normal OP ) will be on its' way to offset on Tuesday :)

One lot of rent in so that too is on its' way to offset :)

This means, even after transferring some money to NW so we can withdraw in Spain to pay bills, our total debt will be below 148k, so I can colour in another brick in my house piccie :)

& had forgotten friend who is renting apartment next month hadn't paid, so that will be a few hundred extra to start next month off :)

Smile are introducing a card reader to authorise internet payments. NW already have one. This means, unless I know money is coming in so take reader to work, I can't transfer money away from home. Whilst I appreciate they are increasing security, not much point having internet banking if you can't use the bl**dy thing . Can they not at least make them compatable so I can have one at home & one at work :(

Hoping to spend some time in garden. Potatoes are triffid like, which I think is good. Need to put pea & bean net up but suspect I won't get much as only a little bit of room for them. Either the carrots or spring onions (I think the carrots) have gone awol. I have some salad leaves ready to eat & rasishes are tiny but cute. :)

    :) 9
    :( 2

    Yay :j

Yikes, forgot so say, Spain for long weekend in 5 sleeps so another great big :)

Ok, looked at pension, as I suspected . Actually :eek::eek:

This scheme only started Jan 07.
    Contributions £10,290.46
    Current Value £6662.60
    Net Gain - £3627.86

    As I said, :eek::eek::eek:.

This 1/4 the net value dropped only by £231.22, as opposed to previous 1/4 which fell £2018.44, so I suppose this is something. And I keep telling myself 'great, I'm getting more bang for my bucks', but not really managing to convince myself .

The trouble is the funds are self selected and I have no way of knowing how I'm performing against their 'Lifestyle' product where they would invest according to my age profile . Also, the list of funds is limited so I had to weigh up investing in a less successful fund in an area I wanted v a more successful fund elsewhere.

Currently I am investing equally in:
    Artemis UK Special Situations
    Friends Provident European
    Friends Provident Pacific Basin
    First State Asia Pacific Leaders
with a small amount in Newton International Growth which I abandoned last year. I need to review the list of funds to see if it has been expanded. I also need to see if there is a tool somewhere that I could use where I could key in monthly payments and see how various other funds would have fared. That will have to wait for a later week, but I must add it to my list of short term goals. Having 1st taken a stiff drink probably.

Don't Panic as the book said!

You are in this investment to pension for some time yet, we have seen our Funds ISAs drop by >50% but now only down 22% and so we're getting great value now. Remember it's the units you buy now which will show the greatest returns, so it will come round.

You can set up your true portfolio on http://www.trustnet.com and of course a series of other ones to monitor. You'll need to choose a day in the month when you "buy" the units (and maybe deduct 1.5% from the "invested" amount for "fees"). This should help you see the results. However, generally, the main differentiater is not the fund but the fund sector which will govern return.

If you are a bit restricted in the pension, why not opt for say "low-medium" risk there, and look for growth via higher risks in your own S&S Funds in an ISA which will augment your savings and of course, you can also look at index-linked certificates for tax-free growth as well. There's a good article in Money Observer this month on "risk-free investment"

Thanks Stuart, I'll check that out. I'm after high risk as I have property plus a few other small pensions so am happy to take a risk at the mo. Will check afterHOLIDAY

MRN :doh:that was a bit obvious, wll try to remember that next time :rotfl:, will be listing after my HOLIDAY

No internet at home apart from work laptop. Router is an ex router. It has ceased to be :(. Hopefully the new one will arrive while I am HOLIDAY and I can sort out then.

Pay day today :j, £520 paid to offset plus another £13 or so from mystery shopping. Hopefully there shoudl be one more payment before my HOLIDAY .

Did I mention I'm going on HOLIDAY ? Only 2 more sleeps (actually 1 really as I am away with work tomorrow night so this is my last night at home before my HOLIDAY ).

25 degrees out there at the mo . Only going till Monday night though so this time next week will be in deep depression :(

I foresee a possible need for you to highlight all your good deeds upon return, else we may just have a word or two.

BTW, if you like high risk, why not lend me your money while you are away; I could possibly make good use of it? :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
