Nice one Latecomer, glad your other half is coming home! Make sure you don't put your back out this weekend chap!

Redlady, it sounds like a great project....... as said a few times already, pics please :D

I think using people that you've had recommended often works well....... We've been REALLY lucky, the chap who fitted our bathroom who is on this site was brilliant, true to his word, did a great job and a great price, and the sparky I found on 'ratedpeople' before I kenw better but we obviously hit the jackpot and he's been great at everything we've had done and to our friends too!

    Good luck! :)

PS, Can't remember if I posted, but this weekend should be spent painting the kitchen and possibly lying new 'slate effect' lino in the kitchen!!! EEEEEEEEEEK!

I would like to know just how difficult it is to hang a door. People around me wince when I say I am going to have a go. But I am pretty focused and the worst that can happen is I have to buy a new door. I am going to have some of those old black latches instead of door handles. I also have a DIY manual to help me.

If I can manage to do the internal doors then I may consider tackling the front door as it needs replacing and I cannot get a carpenter who is interested in the job. The door is not a standard size and the frame also needs replacing.

I've had all new internal doors fitted. I had a chap come round about fitting coving who I asked if he did doors too. He doesn't but knows someone who does. this chap lives part the time in Ilminster and part here in Berkshire. He has done a super job on mine. I could ask him if you like if he covers your area if you PM me.
Mortgage free as of 10/02/2015. Every brick and blade of grass belongs to meeeee. :j

evening put the barbie together this evening for £15 i was quite impressed with it... had our first meal on it this evening, cant see it lasting more than maybe the season but thats fine for me. Still really hot just come in now....

kids took a picture of me, and i going to post a pic up of me cooking (i hope it doesnt scare you), yes cooking and if you knew me, you would now i cant cook a single thing. Also some pics of the day lillies that came out today, the grapes, apples and pears are growing well. Posted a couple of pics of the flowers beds which are filling out, although everytime i drive past a nursery i end up popping in, spent a a fortune on plants and flowers this year, would have been cheaper growing them myself. Picked up some 5ltr sunflowers today for 98pence in B&Q today, had lots of stuff in the sale today but I didnt go too mad.:D

Well its good news I don't look like the ex!!! Imagine that...... Face that only a mother could love!

Grapes are basically where the duck laid her eggs, there above the Buddha head I'm trying to train them to run along the fence (they never taste that nice though). Very hot this morning in Essex, 29deg at 930am when taking the kids swimming, the water looks sooo nice when its hot....

Hard to believe that your garden was a mud patch only a few months ago stolt!

Yes it's really hot here too yesterday the thermometer in OHs car was registering at 32C. I cut the grass yesterday and felt totally knackered after. I'm not to great with the heat as i get exhausted so much quicker than i used to. So today i'm stuck indoors with all doors and windows closed (amazing how much cooler it keeps the house - especially if you close curtains on windows the sun is on).

We had a trip to homebase yesterday with the intention of buying a hozelock sprinkler for the hose and look at outside lights. Should have gone straight to the watering section as when we got there the last one was on the shelf and a guy was stood next to it looking at it. Stupidly i said to OH something like "must get the sprinkler we came in for"..at which point the guy quickly picked up the one remaining sprinkler and walked off with it! Still at least we got the outside lights though to install them involves getting up into the loft so not something i'm in any hurry to do in this heat!

yeah i'm still amazed myself and i'm so glad took lots of pictures as you forget all the mess and trouble. looking at it today its totally different you wouldnt even think it was the same garden.

You mention the sprinkler i did the same thing this morning with a electric fan, kids have been struggling to sleep at night and i have two fans but the youngest didnt have one but i couldnt get one for love or money this morning when i asked i think people though i was mad!!

yep dont fancy getting in the loft in thi weather, i've planted the plants i bought from b&q yesteday but i decided that my pasty body needs some colour.. i'm now paying for it, sipping a rum feeling sorry for myself watching the fottie,,, think i have third degree burns on my back. Knew when doing this house i should have listened and installed air con in the lounge they was a perfect place for it and outside wall!!!

Sounds like you've been productive! Nice one!

Still watering the front lawn a couple of times a day but apparently it's meant to be raining in Cardiff today. No sign as yet.

So we had a very productive weekend. Spent about 10 hours on Saturday in kitchen, rubbing down, sanding, painting the walls and rubbing down all door frames and wooden window frames that lead from kitchen into Utility. We painted these yesterday in a Crown aged white eggshell and going to silicone to seal later. WHAT A DIFFERENCE! Will try and host up some pics later.

Also ripped up the lino floor and to find original victorian tiles underneath. We had already ordered the new flooring and it was sat in the garage and immediately Lowri adn I thought we'd thrown money down the drain. It's in great nick but thinking practically and asthetically we are going to lay the new lino, tonight hopefully. The tiles were cold on the feet this weekend, so I can't imagine what it'll be like in Winter and the diamond pattern just doesn't 'work' with the new colour and tiles etc. Pics later so you can see what I mean..... anyway, did you guys have good weekends?

I have a sink in my bathroom! :D Not alot else at this point though but it is now the downhill stretch before I can move back again. And I have just found out I have an interview for a second job (to pay for all the renovations as I am just about out of cash!) on Friday.

I have huge faith in the plumber and he is turning out to be worth every penny.

Once back in I will post before and after pics. The after ones though won't include decorating as that is all still to do.
