No Jim, not goign to Bugjam, haven't been for time! Big fan or both air and watercooled VW's though! Anymore pics of the pup? Hard work I bet!!!!!0
-
We're massive VW fans too suicide. We have T4 camper, mk1 scirocco, mk1 polo, old beetle, passat, golf ermmmmmmmm think that's it! Chester is getting quite big now! He's not necessarily hard work but because we really want him to grow up to be a well behaved, well socialised dog he does take up a lot of our time. So pleased we got him though and fab that it was in the summer! not looking forward to those hour long walks in the winter!0

He's a fab dog! Love his nails! What type is he again?
Ahhh, nice collection of dubs there!
Two years ago I had a mk1 golf, mk3 gti, mk4 gttdi all at the same time. THe mk1 was LHD and awesomeThe mk3gti was a mag featured show car which I sold to help fund the home and we still drive the mk4

@jimbug - you got to stop posting pics of the puppy - no way I'm going to be able to stop OH from getting one if she sees many more pics like that! (only kidding BTW
)
Never thought there was a bunch of VW petrolheads in here too
I used to spend my summer hols helping friends prepare their campers and beetles for Run to the Sun (IIRC). Hateful things
I had a thing about Mk2 Sciroccos (had 2 of them) and wanted a Corrado but by the time the 2nd Scirocco was on its last legs most of them were in pretty poor nick. Bought a Mk4 GTTDI instead and have had it for 6 years now (never owned a car for over 18 months prior to this!).
Anyway - on the house front apparently joiners and plasterers have been working flat out all day and I believe the kitchen is fully insulated, mostly boarded and the long wall is already plastered too! Cant wait to get home and see it. We found a another dodgy join in the loft flooring which is flexing badly so we're going to have to cut it out tonight and put in some support. I started varnishing the oak skirtings and facings in the front upstairs bedroom last night which is taking ages as I'm doing my best not to cover the newly painted walls
Underlay should be delivered tomorrow and first lot of carpets are due to be laid on friday. That will be both upstairs bedrooms complete and also the small bedroom downstairs which will become the nursery at some point. OH has been investigating appliances again to see whats currently available.
Also got a new problem thought - kitchen isn't as long as we were told it would be (by previous idiots) so the kitchen isn't going to fit. Need to have some replanning but I think its going to end up requiring another couple of units to be bought. not the end of the world but we could do without it at the moment. Talking of kitchen - got quoted £700+vat to fit the kitchen which includes doing all the driling with the jig for the hinges etc and given recent events we will probably go with just to get it fitted.0 -
That's a good price for the kitchen fitting from what I gather!
The carpets are goign to be amazing, will feel like a home! Can you update your blog or host up some pics?!
Ahhh, another GTTDI user. Pretty good cars in all fairness!0 -
Hi guys,
funilly enoughI have had a fair few vws! Loved my
mk1 Golf GTI........
Anway......... I Just cant tell you how nice it is to have a sitting room at last!
Started wrecking the ensuite upstairs now, that is to become the main bathroom, the room is rarther drunk, so dont quite know how to resolve that, it previously had a hideous raised floor!
Took the old shower cubicle etc to the metal recycling plant and got over £20 for it, no one wanted it on freecycle, so thats a bonus, plus you know its going to be recycled.
Got the week off this week, and no nice holiday planned just more house wrecking
Dh has a job interview today,he lost his job a year and a half ago, and has not had many interviews so fingers crossed! He has just been doing whatever he can gardening, painting etc.Pawpurrs x0 -
Hi all,
Well, I nipped home last night to see progress. The plumber is doing a fab job. The plasterer he has hired has skimmed the walls but has done a really poor job on the walls (where the old wall was). Im not happy0 -
And i had a 2nd hand Golf Mk2 fondly known as my " tank". I had to get rid of because clutch and non-power-steering were too heavy for me - and it kept breaking down on motorways. Also had nowhere to park it so had to walk 1/4 mile uphill to get it from it's nearest kerbside parking space which was a big struggle for me. OH had a Mk3...no end of probs/expense with both so not sure i'd buy a VW again - though we did find a v. good backstreet VW garage nearby. We're converted to Toyota now - all my family have them too. Also means we get cheap AA breakdown cover via Club Toyota. I haven't driven since the day we moved in nearly 4 years ago though.
Progress is going well on my workbench. I spent all afternoon/evening until about 10:30pm building it yesterday. The frame is all screwed together and just needs the timbers for the top and the shelf screwed in place (about 30 countersunk screw holes so will take a while) which are currently laid loose. Quite amazed that the worksurface is totally level in all directions - all comes down to the time spent levelling the ground for the ecobase shed base. The time consuming bit was marking out and cutting the notches in the legs but i used jigsaw rather than handsaw/chisel. Downside of using the jigsaw without dust extraction is that now the entire contents of the shed are covered in a layer of sawdust!!
Should finish it today ..least i don't have to work around the weather now!0 -
And what exactly are you going to be working on, at your workbench andrew? Will it be getting much use?Herman - MP for all!0
-
Oh Toyota...I had a MK 1 MR2 with T Bar which I restored. I loved that car and he looked fab! Now I have a practical Golf GT TDI but I do miss "Diago"0
