First-time house renovation

Hope things go ok for Mrs LC.

Would only buy the b&q turf myself unless you know the turf your getting was delivered that day. The stuff outside our B&Q was in a bad way the other day and was totally dried out when i touched. Looked ready for the compost heap to me! Turf should be laid as soon as possible after cutting and if it can't be laid the same day should be watered properly. My lawn is in a bad way too at moment and showing signs of drought as we haven't had any significant rain for ages.

Currently i'm evacuated to the bedroom with the dog because the lounge has been infested by a plague of thunderbugs after having left the back door open for the dog to wander. So i closed off the room and filled it with fly spray as per instructions on the can. Giving it an hour or so before i venture back!

Agree Andrew. Our local one have turf delievered 3 times a week and I phoned up before I went to ensure it was fresh - tidy.

evening I had a great plan last week, we would buy one of those swing seat things... got home early from work tonight about 6ish and dim head me though that it would take me a hour to put together so it would save me doing it the weekend. finished at 9 with the wifes help (alot of help as i nearly threw it down the road.... managed to get it together and really it should have gone back as the frame was out of shape as the missus sitting on i had to bend it into shape. anyway all done now and perhaps tomorrow evening me and wife can have a drink or two on it before it gets dark!!

also got a cheap barbecue from homebase today (i;ll end up putting that together tomorrow evening when i get home) kids been nagging me all week for another barbie since we used a disposable one last weekend.

hope the weather holds for the weekend, very glad i installed those irrigation hoses in the flower beds now!!

Hi, this is the barbie i bought, just thought that if it last a year or two i can get another (i had a gas barbie a couple of years back and i didnt like cleaning it so i ended up rotting in the garden.

Thanks Stolt, they look fab! We're hoping to have a house "finishing" party at the end of the month and I'm praying the weather will be ok to have a BBQ! Really dont want people inside messing my new carpets

OH bought a wooden bench from B&Q last year so I think we'll have to get some furniture to match that, but I love the swings so might have to get that as an extra!

hi, yep understand that completely. I'm back down b&Q in my lunch hour, trouble is i keep popping to the gardening plants section and picking up the 3 for £10.00 offers on plants and grasses. Credit card is killing me this month, every month i say that the garden is finished and we dont need anything else!!!!
the swing seats are nice though, get a decent padded one and your'll end up falling alseep on it!! i had a cup of tea on ours this morning..... right off to work now.

are these people part of M&S? their lettering and corporate colours look exactly the same.

If you're looking for a good BBQ LittleRose, I highly recommend Outback. We have one of their Spectrum 2 (!?) BBQ's and it really is awesome. No probs cleaning either, pull out drip tray etc.
