First-time house renovation

Love your cat's disdainful look! I take it he looks happier now things are getting done?
That brown swirly carpet is rather like the one we had on the stairs and hallway... Except ours was turquoise. Maybe it would go in your bathroom to go with the blue suite? :rotfl: I'm afraid we didn't get round to ripping it off the landing yet. I'm sure I must have a better pic of it somewhere, but you can just see the pattern inside the front door in this pic on Flickr.0 -
I see what you mean about the carpet UKmaggie  I also notice that we have both got the same lampshade in the hall (for now anyway). I bought new ones for all the rooms in the IKEA sale. I've got a local handyman coming on Friday to fix some coving for me and i'll ask him to put them up.
Stage 2 of my plans..............................................
Finish this house and sell up and move to Devon! I'm not sure whether to go for a fixer-upper down there or one already done. My window guy said I should do a fixer upper as I'm good at project managing works. Not sure though, lots to think about.Mortgage free as of 10/02/2015. Every brick and blade of grass belongs to meeeee. :j0 -
Loving all the updates guys. Building work, flowers, veg! It seems to be all go once again! Lovely updates after the weekend
Thanks to Maggie I think for putting link up of the timeline of our garden. You may have seen it on a thread I posted here by mistake then asked to have taken down but if not, here are the pics from beginning to last weekend or so! Taken about 11 months
On the second viewing of property
Dec snowfalls in Cardiff
I spent 2 days making a veg patch and digging turf up to make beds! 2 tonnes of top soil
Bare greenhouse!
Crazy paving and mega weeds!
Spring time and Alfie enjoying a rest!
Beginning of veg patch in Apr 2010
Spring bed
my soppy dog!
Back 'summer' bed at the end of the lawn. Circle of seedlings is the wildflower seeds we had as favours at our wedding in 2008.
Wild flowers (cornflowers) in full flow. June '10. The poppies have since emerged.
Rose bush given to us as a wedding present. Nearly died in a pot but doing well now.
Wildflower patch up close!
Lovely sweet peas
First of a ridiculous number of tomatoes that are coming our way!
Butterfly lavendar
Courgette plant. One of two and they are now rediculously big!
Lillies grown from bulb
Marigolds on their way!
Bit overcrowded I'd say! Now thinned out and planted
Purple Hebes attracting bees
A lot more green in the patch and greenhouse since April!
Me last Sat taking on the crazy paving!
My legend of a neighbour helping me out with the laying of turf
Bye crazy paving, hello lush grass! Watering it 3x per day now. The patch on the left of grass is going to be 'shingled' as car tyres sometimes go on it. Poss some light coloured smart looking stuff. Will head to Wickes after work today.
Pre BBQ with a couple of friends last weekend. Note the brown lawn! Hasn't rained here properly for months it feels! Don't normally have table on lawn etc!
Rear bed topped up with bedding plants
More red and yellow in wildflower patch
Dhalias from seed on their way!
First beetroot and courgette from garden!0 -

Great progress Suiside, loving the pics. I saw them on the other thread thanks to Maggie.
Can you tell me what the pink flowers are in this pic. I feel I ought to know but it's evading me at the moment.
You could have had some of our rain yesterday, it wouldn't have had far to come from N.Wales. Torrential rain all day until about 4pm. You'd have been most welcome!0 -
Hey TM! THey are Azaleas
We had lots of rain on Sat night and helped fill the butts up and had 2 buckets harvesting rainwater from neighbours drains too! Definitely need more0 -
We now have central heating, a stair runner and the seagrass is being laid in the front room today! Yipee! Sofas may come down tonight! And we have somewhere to relax at last! Cant wait to get the room sorted. So far so good with the carpet fitter, who we didnt know and just found on the tinternet, hard to find people that like fitting natural carpets.
DH is putting up a little fence and gate today between us and next doors courtyard, to help stop the little doggie friends from escaping to the road, they are a bit fed up with all the noise, and holes in floor etc!
Bathroom will be next, and its a big job! Hope it doesnt take as long as the sitting room, though I expect it will! we are having to repostion stud wall etc.
Not sure what to do about tiles, as I have loads of tesco vouchers, but the tile at topps seem ludicriously overpriced, at over £100 square meter, as opposed to £35 elsewhere
Got some etched glass type window film for the bathroom and hallway, really pleased with that.
Might go for a feature wall papered wall in the bathroom, for something different, I like Cath K boat paper. Decisions, decisions!Pawpurrs x0 -

Thanks Suiside. I knew I should have know - I've got an azalea in my garden! That's a lovely variety, I love the colour.
I love your arrangement with the water butt, it's own little path and fence, very neat!0 -
suiside,
Loving all your pics - especially that red double rose!
Not keen on the new fence your neighbours at the far end put up, the trellis on top with climbers looks better imho.
i've got a roofing man coming over when I get home. where the garage was extended at the rear for a utility room and the *conservatory* put on, they kinda put a bit of roofing material overlapping. so when the lads [STRIKE]leant on[/STRIKE] pulled down the conservatory, it's left a little bit of roofing stuff that needs tidying up.
Looking now at houses to do up in the Barnstaple/Ilfracombe area.Mortgage free as of 10/02/2015. Every brick and blade of grass belongs to meeeee. :j0 -

I quite agree but hadn't thought about sticking a trellis on the wall to cover up. Is that your suggestion? Sounds great!
Nice one PP, as per your other thread, pics please! Sounds great
Glad you like it TM0 -
had our electrician in yesterday, change all the layout of the wiring for the cooker and microwave etc, also installed the rest of the downlights. Just needs a lick of paint for the ceiling again and the lights can be pushed home. Kitchen should be started first week of August. That extension has been like it for nearly a year without being used, cant wait to have it as an actual functioning room.
I've sort of lost touch with everyones blog perhaps everyone can post up there addys again so i can follow them.Listen to what people say, but watch what people what people do!!0
