OS Daily Mon 29th Sept 08

Hi, this is the OS Daily thread for the 29th September. It is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning. UP a bit earlier today. I don't think I should have ate that quarterpounder before bed! My son brought one home from Mc D's where he works and I just had to eat it.

Work later and then a visit from some friends I have not see in a while. They are from USA but live in Lincs now. They are bringing some real lincs sausages too, so very welcome.
So I hope I am not too late home as I plan to BBQ pork chops. At last I found chops at a good price. LIDL do a pack of 4 for £1.75. That's £2 cheaper than any big supermarket. They are perfect BBQ thickness too.

Well have a nice day

Morning N9eav & all to follow,

It's been a scorcher here today. Very unusual for spring weather. Must be some storms building up. Did some baking this morning after DGS left. I also cut out another top to sew and did a little bit of it. Had a resty this arv but didn't nap as it's hard when you have a grader, digger, tip- trucks, water truck, rollers etc working right outside your place with about 1 dozen men. :D Usually 2 of them seem to do the work and the rest of them lean on their shovels. ;)

Looks like it's nearly ready to pour the cement so that should happen this week if the weather stays fine. Gee, I won't know what to do with myself. How I will miss 2 inches of dust everyday. Carrot & Lentil Loaf & salad for tea tonight with Ice-cream & fruit for dessert.

MeanMarie I hope Ulick is improving steadily. <hugs>
N9eav Enjoy your BBQ. You weather must have improved. :D

Hope you all have a lovely day & will pop back later when you've all had your beauty sleep. :D Byeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)

Morning N9eav and all who follow

Its Monday so an early start to try and kick the house into some sort of order and also get the kids off to school

Yesterday was gorgeous but according to the weather forecast its gonna be a cold and wet one today! So wont get any washing out on the line which means my conservatory will be looking like a chinese laundry againrolleyes.gif.From the nip in the air this morning it definitely feels like winter is coming

Its hubbys last day of holidays so no doubt this will involve some grumping as he will be dreading tomorrow and the return to the daily grind

  • Morning N9EAV, Aussie and all who cross and follow,

Really hate this darkness in the morning, makes it so hard to get up and do anything. Have put the heating on for half an hour just to take the chill off the house. It was freezing at work yesterday as well, they don't put the heating on until the 1st October.

DIVA hope that as you haven't started the thread you've got some sleep

Hugs to all who need one this morning, sorry have read thread but was so tired yesterday I can't remember much.

I have work at 1pm, so shall go to the allotment for an hour.

    Have a good day all

Good morning everyone. It's still too dark to see what the weather is like but it's not cold here at the moment so I hope we're in for another good day.

I'm picking DGS and DGD up from school this afternoon so that will be fun. They go to the same school but the infants' part is ten minutes walk from the juniors so I have to pick DGD up first at 3.15 then DGS at 3.30. This is all very well when the weather is dry but I always feel sorry for the mums and the children when it's freezing cold and pouring with rain.

Today I must get the ironing done and sort a bit more paperwork out; the downstairs needs dusting and hoovering. DH painted a couple more doors yesterday so there's some dust from the sanding-down.

Dinner tonight is HM beefburgers that I found in the freezer; we'll probably have that with oven chips and salad. I'm being very good and running the freezer right down before I do a big shop on Friday. I made stew for yesterday's dinner and have enough left over to have tomorrow. I say I'm running the freezer down but I have also been making loads of different soups in the Remoska and freezing them so it will be mainly meat that I want to stock up on.

(((Hugs))) to Smoky, PenPin, Jayward, Esssex-girl's Dad, Candygirl's Dad, Beth and her family, Pippa's DH and Mum and Meanmarie and Ulrick. (((Hugs))) also to all those of you who are suffering with colds.

    Churchmouse - :hello: :hello: :hello:

Well, I'm off for a wander round here then I shall have a shower.

    See you all later.

Morning, N9eav, Lesley, Janny & Aussie :hello:

Aussie, I wondered how the road was going...no pictures of the hunky workmen

I have waved Mr Twit off to work, he's only about an hour away for the next couple of weeks, so the alarm is going off at a more reasonable time.
Busy day planned when I've deposited Miss Twit off at school. I need to call into work, then I've got to go to the banks and I need to call into my other job. Then I'm working 5-7 tonight.
No idea what's for tea, although I will try and make sure it can be Remoska'd :D

    Love and hugs to all

    Morning all,

Cold here at the moment, its meant to be a nice day again, with rain tomorrow, so i will get any washing done today, think I did everything that needs doing in the garden yesterday, but will potter today.

Also need to have a tidy and clean through, change dd's bedding and get that washed.

Not sure what is for tea, might do fish pie, but I don't fancy that, might do toad in the hole with veg, and do the fish pie for tomorrow. With lots of veg from my garden :T

DD has her school photo today, so she will be up beautifing herself in a while  .

Its my nephews birthday on Friday, the one who was taken into care, so need to get him a present, he wants some clothes or trainers, as there is another boy living there who keeps taking the micky out of his clothes, and calling him names  . His silly mother insists he comes home for two nights a week, so she can still get the allowance for him, but when he goes home he runs away and sleeeps out the night, I know for a fact that he takes drugs and is able to get hold of them in his home town. She cannot see that he is better off in the care home, where he has strict guidelines to follow.

    Any hoo better get on.

Aussie I bet your dgs, loves all the diggers and rollers, x

Marie, hugs to you and dh xx

    Have good days all xx

Off to work soon, no work for hubby again, it's really getting him down.
It's getting quieter at work now but I'm still pressing ahead with my attempts to get some things changed, I've also started applying for other jobs.
Nice to see you posting again Smokey, hugs to MM & Ulick, Jay, Beth, Mrs Mix, PenPin, Esssex-girl's Dad, Candygirl's Dad, , Pippa's DH and Mum.
    Have a good day everyone.

Hester - hope you dont have too bad a day at work today.

Thank you for DS' birthday wishes, he had a good day. His chosen meal was for Wagamama's which is at Lakeside - no signs of a credit crunch there! Sadly his team lost at football but he still seemed happy.

Today am on a mission to get my office work done. I dont know where it has come from but there is loads. OH is going into town for me to pay some money in and will hopefully be home for when the big tesco shop arrives. I plan to stay in my office all day. Will also be something quick for tea - probably pizza. Havnt done this weeks menu plan so need to get that done as well.

So not a nice day here at all, have also woken with a stuffy nose so am not a happy bunny at the moment. Hopefully will be in a much better mood tonight.

    See you later.
