morrisons credit crunch offers( aka 50p items)

  • I'v got to admit that morrisons is my 'favoured' shop and has been for a while as I always seem to come awy with a 'full boot' wereas when I shop at the other big supermarkets and spend the same I find myself coming away with only half the amount BUT just be a little careful on the '50p offers'

The current 'curry meal' offer is quite good but a week or two back one of the 50p offers was on a pack of 4 eggs. the same size and brand of which could be bought in a pack of 12 for 99p so not as good a deal as originally looked on the face of it!!! Don't get drawn into the 'its on sale/offer so therefore must be cheap' as it doesn't always prove right.

Curry stock is dwindling fast due to fantastic sales and so you will have to grab them as soon as you see them.

I totally agree with you - our Morrisons is hideous too - the staff are ignorant and immature, barely noticing if customers are around, everything is too much trouble and the veg is also very poor quality. I made a vow not to go there again but have to say Tesco is not much better but for different reasons, customer service is top notch at our tesco and nothing is too much trouble, if they have something specific not on the shelf they will go and look for it for you (M just look at you as if you are stupid!) but T as a company i do not like - i think they put profit way up above the needs of the customer. currently i am loving Somerfield - best of both!!! then Tesco and M if i have to!

It goes both ways, why should staff be subjected to abuse from customers? You try and move stock through the sales floor and the customers walk staright in front of you or give you a durty look as you asked for them to move out the way so you can get past. It happens in all supermarkets although i agree that some store are better/worse than others.

I feel sorry for the ex safeways, they have had to cram a full morrison store into half the size of a normal one. For the other members here that have had a bad experience of M, we are not all the same
  • I tend to shop at Morrisons for fresh meat and pet food, then I'll use Tesco for everything else. However, I'm starting to lean more towards using Morrisons for everything, if it weren't for Clubcard then I'd have done this ages ago.
Our local Tesco now has a new, expensive Cafe Nero - I did used to pop in for a cheap meal before the old cafe closed but again, Morrisons have won and I go there for food instead. Makes sense to be able to pair it with a shopping trip.

I don't use Tesco fuel either as it doesn't seem to agree with any of our cars, we get much better mpg from Shell or BP so it negates the 5p a litre offers.
  • very rare I shop in Morrison because none are near to me. I wish there is one, i am surrounded by Sainsbury.
But I must say the customer service in the Shepherds Bush branch is very good. She even phone me to inform me what happened to the product I want and kept them for me to collect. I don't think a lot of shop bother. That make the shopping experience so different.
  • My main issue with Morrisons is the discontinuing of products - their own!

I asked for feedback from them as to whether this was a stock issue or a stopped line - that was 5 months ago and still no reply.

They seem to have no real mechanism for monitoring stock levels on their promotional lines as if you're not able to get to the store on the first day you're scuppered.

it is really a question of figures, if a buyer goes to a supplier and says, if i buy a million units from you, whats sort of price discount will you give me?

supplier gives price, morrisons buyer accepts or negotiates and then works out profit for company, promotion launches.

If morrisons buyer as set a good sell price (daz for £5) and it flies out the door in the first few days, then he cant just go back to the supplier and ask for another million units, because the time that the supplier produces this all, then the deal will have finshed. It is even worse for fresh deals such as the curry's, any supermarket does not want date codes waste and are reluctant to have any left at promotion.

Store with the greater sales in first few days will be allocated any remaining stock as the buyer knows it will sell there. It is also down to dept manager and sometimes store manager to get on the phone/email and push the allocater to get stock in to their store.

I bought this deal from the boyf and I last night and it was delicious and excellent value for money. Both of us like hot currys and it didn't disappoint. More than enough food too for a boyfriend with a very large appetite and myself.

It's right about stocks dwindling though as I had to go to a larger store to find them in (limited) stock.

Grab yourselves an excellent night in takeway :)

We had our £3 curry this evening - very good is was too. Usually supermarket curries are too salty, this was fine. The last Indian takeaway we got was £37.50 for three main meals with rice, a naan and 4 poddadoms and it wasn`t worth the £34.50 difference!
