Hypno, why does your idea of taking a break for things seem to mean you are working like a maniac in the house? my idea of an easy time would involve a hotel a pool and a few good books. seriously though i cant believe how well you have done recently im sure i was only just passing comment on you being almost sub 50K. well done for all your hard work, try spending some of your 'month off' relaxing, you definatly deserve it.

  • Like the new diary Hypno and what a good idea.

We all need to remember about the balance of life/debt busting. Life is hectic doing a demanding job, organising the kids schedule and keeping in control of the house and finances. So good for you for taking a step back for a month or so to restock and re-energise:j

I've done that this last few weeks without really realising. I've listing nothing on ebay, picked up only one mystery shop and really been concentrating on working (of which i've been doing a lot extra) and keeping in control of the house.

I also feel guilty for spending time on the PC (as now) instead of with the kids (who are upstairs playing nicely :D ) but guilt comes with being a parent whatever the role.

Good luck and no doubt you'll continue debt busting with avengance in a short while:rolleyes: :D

lunar, you are quite right - I am not taking "time out" as such, just making sure that I get my priorities right, and that means looking at other stuff not just debt busting, but also those other things could mean work that leads to debt busting......

.....for example, I have these bloomin articles to write - I need to write them so I can sell more of the downloads, which in turn will make me more money that can pay off the debt quicker.......but instead of just doing the 2 articles a week that I need to do, I put it off, leave it til the last minute, and then end up making excuses, so don't sell any more stuff etc. Whereas, if I just gave myself an hour twice a week, I could easily get those required articles done, with a cuppa by my side, with little stress!!

I DO have that hour twice a week - I must do, because I spend longer than that looking for surveys that make me little or no money! So it is a case of swapping one for another.

Similarly, Jacksxxx post reminded me - I have several pairs of trousers that have the hem coming down, and shirts that need one button sewing on. These clothes would only take 10 mins each to mend, but instead they are in a big pile, which almost rivals the ironing pile, and in the meantime I am cheesed off because I have no clothes to fit me - well of course I don't have any clothes to fit me because they are waiting for me to make 10 mins to mend them!!

Do I have 10 mins? Well of course I do....the 10 mins that I go on pigsback looking for non existant clicks every day! - I just need to direct myself in the direction that is needed.......which will in turn give me clothes to wear and clear some space, and reduces the risk of me going and spending on clothes I *think* I need!

So......it is a bit of taking a step back to see the bigger picture, rather than the sort of tunnel vision I have been experiencing!

I don't know if I am explaining it very well, but I think I know what I mean......

    ......sort of :rotfl:

Anyway, whilst waiting for free b!ngo that I will not win on, I have made sausage, mash and carrots, and have swept my kitchen floor. See, I can multitask.........:D

  • Hypno, I think you're doing the right thing. i spent a weekend at a friends house recently, and she is like super-housewife, never stops, and it made me reflect on how much I neglect my own house, not in a 'I need Kim and Aggie' way, just, I thought, well for example, sweeping the kitchen after the evening keeps it cleaner, and then doing the pots after makes more sense than leaving them until the morning. This led me onto things like, not wasting millions of hours on the pc, doing absolutely naff all, and using that time productively instead.
  • Thats so true Hypno. Somewhere there was a thread on the very subject http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=659453 which I found early on in my DF journey and it struck a cord. Its about the efford against the reward. I've stopped doing surveys etc since I figured it wasn't very productive. Now I do the things which I feel are productive and this leaves me more time to get on with life.

You've come such a long way already and you should congratulate yourself:D

DH and I are finding the same thing, that's why I signed up to the other bits too. I did send Pigsback a message once asking where the clicks had gone and got no reply...surprise, surprise!!

Hypno - I sometimes wonder how much I get paid per hour for doing surveys and clicks etc and it's probably very little. At times it's been useful but now i'm getting busier i'm like you and starting to wonder if I should carry on.

Glad your course went well Pania. What was it exactly? I'm interested because we've just got a new rescue puppy and she's got quite a few problems but I want to train her in the right way. Things have changed so much since we had our first dog (12 years ago) - back then it was choke chains and shouting!!!!! xx
