HAPPY NEW DIARY!
A month of just making minimum payments is a great idea. As you've already said, it will make no difference to your debt free date, but WILL give you the chance to catch your breath. I hope you manage to get your living environment as clear and sorted as you'd like - keep us posted on progress, I think we all fight a similar battle to a degree.

I think it's a jolly good idea honeybun!
I've just had a slower paced month debt repayment wise because I keep getting ear infections, sore throats, cystitis and tummy bugs and other little niggly illnesses that sap your energy so I decide to dial it all down for a while.
It's nice having space in my brain to think about other things for a while!
I have done some decluttering and reorganising cos my living room and dining rooms were like a 3D To Do list!
There's the pile of "must do " Ironing and there's the pile that I "should do really" as well. That box is stuff from my mum's to put on eBay and that's the make do and mend pile but somehow my eyes always feel too tired for sewing!. Those books are going to be put up on Amazon when I get a chance....
(You know how it goes!)
I'm feeling much better now but I think I'm going to keep the pace dialled down for a while longer cos we're ALL so much happier when I'm not so stressed and always thinking about what I have to do next.
So good on ya chick! I expect it will have all sorts of unexpected benefits. Living ina slightly nicer environment makes me feel better - and less overwhelmed.
Ooh and my top tip for decluttering is to break it up into baby steps. The thought of sorting out our huge 14 drawer merchant chest / sideboard thingie made me whimper with terror but the thought of doing one drawer seemed doable so I just did one drawer (14 times!)

Hi Hypno,
You've made entirely the right choice! A tired Hypno is an ineffective Hypno. You certainly deserve a break - only doing a tenth of what you do in a day would leave me gasping for breath!
It's really important to try and operate in a tidy environment - like you, I am meticulously tidy at work - everything filed correctly and in a timely fashion. Then I get home and it's like a bomb's gone off! If a burglar came into my home, he'd assume somebody got there before him!
So enjoy your "holiday" and come back on 1st November, refreshed, organised and ready for action!

When I read comments like these, the wannabe-writer in me gets all wistful. Love it.
[cough] - oh yeah, sensible comments too! :rotfl:2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

It's true though! When my mum visited recently, she remarked that my dining room looked as if a bomb had exploded in it.
Then she re-clarified her statement by suggesting that she was mistaken, as she was sure that a bomb would have left more of a semblance of order!
Cheeky cow!:rotfl:
She did help me tidy up a bit though! That's what mum's are for!

hiya hypno!
Yep that's a brilliant idea; I've only made minimum payments this month for the same reasons; and I'm not going to daily click or survey this week.... sometimes DFW can take up so much time!!LBM : August 2007my debts: less than this time last year....!DFW Nerd Club #706I'm Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts0 -
Hiya Hypno
Good luck with your month 'rest'. I have it sounds like you'll be as busy as ever just doing different things. You mentioned Pania was on a dog course. What's she doing? It sounds good and is she the one to go to for a few tips?

Good for you Hypno. OH & I have also started to live life alot more & not let the debts get to us like they were last year. I seriously don't think we could have lived like that much longer without either falling out big time or giving the whole DFW journey up. We decided to put our DFD back 5 years & if we gain ground on that, brilliant, but if not, so be it. At the end of the day we are never going to starve & always manage to pay everything on time, so we now look at our debts as a £100k or so mortgage, rather than a £70k mortgage & £31k worth of debts. We do slightly over budget, but luckily we can both do overtime to cover this. We are now living life to the full & are happier than we have been for years. All the best & take it easy!!Debt at LBM(July 1st 07)-£35,053.92 Debt on 1st Anniversary of LBM(July 1st 08)-£33,170.11 (31st January 09)-£32,318.73Paid off so far £2,735.19(7.8%) Average paid off p.m. £143.95 L/H supporter 115 DFD target February 2018 DFD March 2028.
