online banking has been checked and OH has been paid so I can crunch numbers again later on.

Scratchcards have also been nice to me again, with one paying me £5 :T

Surfbabe that sounds like a lovely "do". Quite emotional I would guess. I hope your day is not too "long" and that the teaching goes ok. How is the voice now?

Oh, did I hear a 30k challenge in the offing? I'll joing that one. I had to give up on the 20k one (although I must have made well over £20k in repayments, but re-borrowed much of it and haven't been able to track it) because of the house move and all the huge changes around here but next year should be far more stable.

    Bah to Egg.

As I am a bankrupt, I dont really have any debts left. Although, moving from Oxford to Towcester, and the various changes in my working, sick etc I apparantly now owe the Oxford Council around £1,200. So I have to start to pay them back. They have agreed £75 a month on the Council tax and then £11.50 a week on the housing benefit overpayment. (Not that I really agree its right, but there you go). On top of not having the housing benefit sorted out at the new place, and paying out the rent on two properties for October, I am now skint. I have exactly £1 left in my purse. Although there is over £700 in the account, I need £1,200 for the rent.. So I am panicing. Must go and check quidco and see why I havent had my Sheila's Wheels payment back yet. Then see if I can get the landlord to accept payment a few days later when the council cheque for £615 back dated housing comes in? I hadnt wanted them to know I was off sick, but I think perhaps in this case, honesty may be the best option. At least I know that the money is coming in, it just needs to arrive and then be cleared. I wish the council would pay the money by Bacs or something similar. Cheques just feel ancient, and rely on the postal system, then I have to get it to the bank. Which is in Northampton. So a bus ride is £6.50 or I could take the car, but then there is petrol and parking!!. Oh I wish I could get a bank account in one of the main banks. But I suppose that is my punishment. No Credit Cards, No loans, No buying on the internet, Electron is pants!!!!
Sorry thats my rant for the day over. Got to go and have a shower now and get ready to go back home to face the mess the twins and babies will have made by now.
When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.

going back to something debtfreefuture said - it is indeed only 5 weeks until the end of 2008 and I need to start making plans for 2009.

I want to be realistic, but at the same time challenging. The secured loan we have is £11500 ish, and has to be included in "debt" because it was used to consolidate, whereas if it had been used for house improvements I would probably count it in with the mortgage (if that makes sense!).

But, for the purposes of a challenge, it would be good to be only left with the secured loan at the end of 2009.....That means paying off about £30k in 2009. I have done £24k ish in 2008 which include times when I was either earning less, or a whole month when I was "between jobs" so I don't think I am being too daft in setting the £30k target.

To end next year with just the one loan left would be incredible. So that is my aim!

    Bring it on :T

and the gaunlett has been thrown down ..i know you will do it
