Well I go to butchers and farm shops and can say there really isn't that much difference.
I think you're more "anti Supermarket" rather than really being an expert on this. This is just classic herd mentality, everyone knows what the majority will say so the just say the same thing to feel comfortable.
This has to be the most obsurd comment from dim tim if he thinks that there is not much differance from supermarket shrink wrapped meat (unless they have a external butchers in the supermarket)to farmers markets and small independent butchers then im afaraid he is very dim or will stick up for the retail sector no matter what they spew out to the public , supermarket meat is never as fresh as a farmers market or small butchers dim tim probably thinks the milk in the supermarket is fresh too try around 3 weeks old , and he probably thinks the farmer when milking the cow gets semi skimmed from one teat and full cream from the other.
dimtim you have finaly proved you will say anything to stick up for the retail sector.:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:0 -

You talk rubbish and just are a classic example of my point. Try buying from both types of outlets frequently and you'll soon find it's six of one half a dozen of the other.0 -
sorry tim but you are talking rubbish on this one,
i am talking with regards fresh meat with first hand knowledge on my part , sad fact is if you cant taste or see the differance then you have had one to many chicken nuggets with your blue nun.0 -
I work in Sainsburys, I've seen the counters manager send back quite a few pieces of meat because they came in looking disgusting. Unfortunately theres not the time to check every bit of meat on the shop floor, so if you notice its off, point it out to someone! If you just leave it for the next person to buy then things won't change, but if enough gets recorded as poor quality then eventually things should change for the better.
I'd imagine meat from a butcher is generally better quality for the same reason, that he can see the meat before he sells it to you, so he won't sell you anything thats obviously bad. I don't know though, I've never bought meat from a butcher.0 -
