I had the exact thing happen to my box! The box was soaking, so I started rummaging in my cupboard looking for a leak, but everything else was dry!

Thank goodness for that, though it was just me! :cheesy:

BTW how are "Market value" fruit and veg different from the old "Value" fruit and veg? Are Tesco's now trying to convince us they're all locally sourced from stalls with stripy awnings and ruddy-faced smiling farmers?
(Actually the ruddy faces are probably due to alcohol used in an attempt to blot out the horrors of attempting to commercially farm in today's financial market & climate!)

Have tried the Daisy dishwasher tablets (5 in 1) for £2.99 & they seem to be fine - think they sell them in Aldi or Lidl as there was a price comparison sticker?
Would like to try the weetabix equivalent but my local Tesco has never had them in stock when I've been in - just a big empty space - 99p apparently.

How many tablets do you get for that?

Have you tried the ones in Home Bargains? 99p, not sure how many's in it, I think 30? They're fine.

  • I haven't been to Tesco in a while. Are these 'discount brands' just rebadged Value/Tesco products, or completely different products? How are they priced in comparison to Value/Tesco/Normal Brands?

I found a bottle of disinfectant stuff in the back of my cupboard last night that I bought ages ago, it's the Daisy brand, so it's not new.

Don't bother with the Daisy dishwasher tablets. They don't wash - all the food is left on and everything is covered in cloudy residue! Going back for a refund today (without a receipt) so probably up for a row!

I'm convinced that most of these 'discount brands' are re-packaged goods which were previously referred to as 'value' anyhow. They can then put a few more pence on them compared to the value ranges and hope that people will buy these discount brands instead because of brand snobbery and not wanting to buy value items.
  • Hi there, my first post!

I work for Tesco, and when the discount products were launched 3 weeks ago we were told that the products are different to the Value range - they are supposedly of higher quality.

I suspect that they think that there is some elitism/snobbery that prevents some people from buying anything that looks too cheap!
