Hello, I would like to declare October at £229, this includes meals out while on holiday as o/h decided to treat us for anniversary..is it bad that i felt quite annoyed at the amount spent on dinner and enforced a rule of only food from street vendors for the remainder of the holiday??!! November will not allow us to fall off the wagon as no spare cash after paying bills!
    August: £149/£150

    Sept: £200
  • I'm going to declare £158.61 for October ( technically my month doesn't end until Friday but I know I have enough food in to last until then )

So I went over on my first month by £8.61 but I don't think its too bad as I know this is down to the fact my oven broke ( and is still broke :o ) so alot of the food I have in the freezer I can't cook

I'm still going to aim for £150 in November and hopefully my cooker will be sorted for then!

    October £150/£158.61 :o November £150/£213.52  December £250/£230.92 January £250/£204.27
  • I'm pretty sure I've lost some receipts in my first month:eek: must do better. I'm gonna guess at roughly £130 which was way over my £100 target. I know where I went wrong though, and instead of emptying my freezer I seem to have filled it. So MrsM & co, please can you put me down for £100 again this month and I will even try to get in some Xmas pressies from that. We adults in the family have decided on the £10 limit this year, and already I have loads of ideas. Am off to find some soup recipes for my Mum's pressie of a homemade cookbook, bless her. Now that she has retired and looks after 94 yr old granny, she has decided the time is right for her to learn to cook!

    Hi All

I've spent £254 out of my £260 budget for October.
Although not over target I seem to have spent an absolute fortune on baby stuff such as nappies, milk and food. Might try and log these separately next month to see how much it actually adds up to....

Can someone direct me to the stuffing recipe, it doesn't seem to be listed in the front pages. I've been looking for a homemade version so this sounds great. Thanks

its listed on the front page as 'Stuffing, Mrs McCawber's recipe' ;)

Wow I actually made it to the end of the October challenge without getting days behind on the posts and giving up :j :rotfl:

Well my spending was a bit all over the shop this month - I spent way to much early in the month and have had to be veeerrrrrryyy careful towards the end :o I have come in just under budget at £134.90 for October (out of £137.60) so £2-70 spare :D

Can I be put down for £133.30 for November please?

Thanks to all who organise this and everyone who posts :T :T See you on the Nov thread :D

  • Well, October is finished for me (as far as groceries go!) and my total is......£164, so only £4 over, which is a minor miracle! (I did have to make an adjustment for the corned beef I 'stored' in advance of next month, so I'll add that to my first Nov shopping bill!)

    Good luck for November everyone!

do other people find stuff just ends up in the basket to get the total above the minimum spend?

    :D

If i have space available in the minimum spend I generally use it to stock up on special offers on non perishables that we use month in month out such as cleaning stuff, washing powder, Tea bags, rice, breakfast cereal etc.

I figure it'll save me money next month! :D

Jacks - the couple of times I've done groceries on-line, I've done the same as you. But my DD 'spends' the equivalent of whatever her offer code is on 'treats' for her girls -- so £10 off £50, she'll spend £40 on essentials and a tenner on rubbish!! I keep telling her that her money will go further if she at least splits the tenner between junk and non-perishables, but will she listen.......

    not a chance !!!
