We spend £25-£30 pw to feed two adults. This is mainly in Tesco but sometimes a little in Iceland or Farmfoods. We mainly make meals from scratch. We don't drink a lot of alcohol or have many branded foods. One or twice a month we spend £8 at a takeaway as well.Debt-free day: 8th May 2015 "Remember that sometimes not getting what you want is a wonderful stroke of luck," Dalai Llama0

Hi all,
I will declare my total on Thursday. I still have to do one shopping then. Just been invited to a Halloween Party on Friday, but I have to organise the snacks. But I am hoping to stay in budget, as I have £26 left.
I also just booked a delivery for Sat, new month....
It was hard to find a code, which at least gets me the delivery charges off.
Found one on the end, otherwise I was going to have to do a trip there grrrr
A bit off challenge, DH is coming back from I**q on Friday too. :smileyhea :happyhear So I will think of a special dinner to celebrate on the weekend.
Take care everyone and good luck with the Nov challenge.

I've been completing a spreadsheet since 1st September detailing everything I spend, cook & eat!:D It's obsessive though, if you decide to do it.....
be afraid, be very afraid
I have managed to get our food bill down from £460 to £360 in just 1 month and it was higher than £460 prior to September (not sure how much cos I wasn't OCD about it then!!:o ) We are me, DH and 3 DS, aged 10, 8 & 7.
Thanks to MSE & especially OS I now menu plan, cook from scratch (mostly), bake my own bread, biscuits, cakes (breadmaker cheap off ebay).
Mind you - looking at how much I spend on food and then looking at how much each meal costs when we eat it, I am either calculating each portion wrongly or am building up loads of food in the freezer, because my menu plan spreadsheet shows our meals at £220 for October, not £360
..... wanders off to count the frozen peas...... how many peas to a kilo bag then??.... wonder if DH has been sneaking extra peas.... hmmm..... mutters to self...... cctv in kitchen then? chop his hands off - that'll do the trick! must try harder, must try harder....I'm not so tired & not so desperate..... mainly thanks to MSEso just call me Notso.....
Yes, I'm juggling and I might drop some.... but at least I'm trying

Three months ago we were spending £300 minimum (per month) sometimes more on 2 adults and £60+ on 2 cats
... for the last three months we've kept it down to £150 each month for 2 adults and £30 for 2 cats ... sometimes additional costs for wine and chocolate and nuts!
That includes breakfasts, lunches, teas, cleaning products, toiletries, cat food, cat litter and occaisional toy!
I cook from scratch mainly ... casseroles, stews, home made pizza, pasta dishes, bolognaise, jacket potatoes, omlettes, stir fries, crumbles, cakes etc
