Did my last big shop of the month and it came in at just over £13. A bit more than I was expecting but I did buy quite a few bits and pieces for some home baking.
Have a few more things to buy later this week for a halloween party and including that in my groceries budget so not declaring just yet!0 -

Mrs M - I can't declare October total yet, but please put me down for £145 for November
(am also hoping to include toiletries/cleaning products in it next month!)Cheryl0 -
Afternoon all you lovely people,
I would like to declare my October total £273.90.Wooohoooooo £26.10 under budget! This thread is a miracle worker!!
My OH gets paid today so my new month starts now and I would like to aim for £280.00 for November.
Thank you all SO much for your help and support and encouragement.
Diva.xTo be frugal, you need to spend money wisely, simply spending less is not enough. If you can't handle me at my worst then you don't deserve me at my best...Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the little voice at the end of the day that says I will try again tomorrow.0 -
It was the Warburtons seeded loaf and, in my defence, it was served with homemade soup for lunch with a special visitor. I was completely shocked! Co-op's saver bread is now 75p! I only buy bread if I can get it for less than 40p, so I hadn't noticed the latest price increases.
I'm not finished this month until 31st, but will aim for £60 next month
I'm not sure how it will go, as I have a house move, extra mouths to feed and it'll all result in an empty freezer, unless I can find freezer boxes of some description to cover the duration of the move and allow a couple of hours standing time before I can switch it back on - same with fridge.
Edited in: Just to update, I had to go into town today, so took the opportunity to pop into S*merfields. Whilst there, I spent £7.12 on bargains, but I also priced their Warburt*ns Seeded batch loaf - £1.86!!! And their (previously) 19p then 22p beans are now 36p! On the plus side, their 'cheap bread' is less than half the price of our local Co-op's own brand saver! But I still couldn't believe the price increases on other basic foodstuffs. Impending recession looks really BAD for anyone who, through financial necessity, has already downgraded as far as they can go because basic food bills could easily double.
We didn't have to empty it or anything it was just unplugged just before putting it on and plugged staright in the other end.
This was a removal firm as well. They also wrapped it in loads of blankets.
This was a bighelp as we didn't have a stove for nearly a fortnight after moving as we went from gas to electric.
It was nice to have things in the freezer I could just defrost and heat through in either the slow cooker or micro.
HTHMy self & hubby; 2 sons (30 & 26). Hubby also a found daughter (37).
Eldest son has his own house with partner & her 2 children (11 & 10)
Youngest son & fiancé now have own house.
So we’re empty nesters.
Daughter married with 3 boys (12, 9 & 5).
My mother always served up leftovers we never knew what the original meal was. - Tracey Ulman0 -
My month doesn't end till friday but can you please put me down for £340 for Nov Mrs M.Bargain hunting in the RTC section is getting harder these days.Anyone else noticing a lot more people waiting for reductions.I see a lot of people I know are professionals and on high salaries hanging about at the end of the day.It used to just be me and a few polish folk."Sometimes life sucks....but the alternative is unacceptable."0

Hello everyone  Haven't posted for a while as I've had a busy few weeks and not a lot of time to check in with the GC. Doing OK this month, there's £2.18 left in the pot to last til Friday (I work on calendar months). I have everything I need for evening meals and lunches for the rest of the week, may need some more citrus fruit as I like to take a selection to work to keep me away from the vending machine when I get the munchies
Fingers crossed I can come in on budget for the second month in a row.
Can I be put on the list for £300 again for November, MrsM? It's a 4 week month for me again, as Monday is my normal shopping day. Though to be honest, since joining the GC, I am getting better at holding out til I actually need to go shopping, rather than automatically going on a Monday just cos that's what I usually do. For instance, I didn't go shopping today as I don't really need anything. Might pop out for fruit one lunchtime later in the week, as I mentioned above - but then that makes me wonder how often I would pop to the shops for the odd this or that if I didn't work across the road from a big Mr T. If there was more effort involved in getting those extra bits, perhaps I'd be more inclined to decide I could do without
Maybe I'll just make a batch of twinks and eat those instead of fruit!Good for the GC, not so good for my waistline (and I have to start thinking about that now that I've ordered my wedding dress!!!!! sorry, couldn't resist dropping that in there
)
Friend at work brought me a bag of apples today, so need to decide what to do with those. The apple charlotte recipe someone posted a little while back sounded good, so maybe I'll have a go at that.
Have a great rest of the week everyone. You can do anything, make anything, dream anything. If you change the world, the world will change.0 -
Hi folks, well I truely lost it this month. I quit half way through, and posted that I would try again next month, then someone told me not to give up, so, i didnt for a week or so, then I lost my receips, and my way in the supermarket. I think I would be way over anyway, maybe around the £420 mark.
So, I will list that as my final total for this month, £420, and start with renewed energy next month, i hope........no, I will.
Jackie
