although it is hard all you can do is listen to your solicitor and trust in your heart it will work out. Which is completely rubbish I know and all you want is a magic wand to make everything to go back to how this was or to win the lottery so it doesn't matter.
It is going to be hard and scary till it is sorted, but you are doing amazingly well honestly. Just don't over think it all too much, you've had a big shock the past week and it won't have had time to sink in properly yet, just try and think of it as a holiday until your interview and not dwell on what might or might not happen. The problem is if you don't have work to distract you your mind can go off on mad tangents and next thing you know you're worried you'll get eaten by sharks or something.
So you obviously have to do some things to sort this out which you obviously are to have an interview sorted already, but just don't put too much pressure on yourself ok you need to give yourself a little time to get your head around all as well as deal with the practical things like the money side. Just think of it as if you resigned so if you were leaving normally you'd expect your unpaid holiday for the year and your months notice, and the solicitor will get you that at the least either way from what you've said. At this rate you might have a new job before you even have the paperwork sorted for the other one, but if you do get something new just remember they don't have to know that yet do they
if you have any go have some hot chocolate and snuggle up warm as it is cold tonight and tomorrow is another day. You can't change anything by worrying, so if you want something to worry about what am I going to wear on Saturday to the albert hall to see secret policeman's ball as I'm sat right near the front and I just found out it is on telly on sunday night so what am i going to wear... see that's much more important
the best advice I have, and what i've found to keep me sane, is if you start to panic, just keep saying over and over "this too shall pass" it is like when you're at school and your gcse results are THE most important thing in the universe at the time but you look back now at all that you've done and it wasn't that important really, and the world hasn't ended because of that one thing. So although it doesn't feel it right now and you have no idea where you'll be in the next week or month's time, it doesn't matter because "this too shall pass" what's happened has happened and you can't change that, and what is the worst that can really happen now anyway ? you can't go to prison for being made redundant, but you might get addicted to this morning with fern... i'm not sure which is worseOfficial DFW Nerd Club - Member no. 234 Proud to be dealing with my debts I love the Dave Ramsey podcasts. Thanks. I think I just let myself think about it all a little to much :rolleyes:Plan is to speak to the girl in HR tomorrow, ask for a written copy of my reference and have done. Basically I have £800 more than the basic and that will be enough.

My first reaction to this was   because I know just what that's like!!! :rotfl:Current debt - £16,300Debt at worst 17/03/2011 - £18,067.62:eek::eek::ANot going anywhere else, ever again :A0 -
Fern's not my type!!! :rotfl:
Well I am going to call HR at 9, so wish me luck. It'll be fine, but I hate doing this sort of thing.
I will ask for a written copy of my reference, and then ask if there is a day when both I and the company can sign the document to bring it into effect. If she mentions the money then I will, but I'm not going to push the point.
But I am full of cold and have loads of housework to do todayCurrent debt - £16,300Debt at worst 17/03/2011 - £18,067.62:eek::eek::ANot going anywhere else, ever again :A0 -
Right. Document is all sign by everyone and they now have 14 days to pay me my money... if not they will be in breach of contract.
I've have done no housework and I am sat here eating a chocolate eclair, which isn't getting any housework done, and isn't making me slimmer either.
But I can't be bothered!
Anyway
Spends today was £4.99 on a bottle of wine for tonight, one of the girls I worked with is cooking me dinner.
I have worked out that I need about £600 a month to pay all by bills, although that doesn't cover petrol or my cc payment. But I am aiming to cover cc through amazon and ebay as much as possible, and use the car as little as I can.
I have stopped my savings standing orders so that is one thing. Not that there is much is savings anyway.
And the plan for the next couple of days is to get all upto date with where all of my debts stand and what bills I need to pay. I can't really do and SOA as I have no income to over it, but I will try and sort one out as soon as I am earning some more money, even if it's temping etc.Current debt - £16,300Debt at worst 17/03/2011 - £18,067.62:eek::eek::ANot going anywhere else, ever again :A0 -
Right
Today is busy, I need to drop a wrap off at a friends as she is borrowing it for her friends wedding tomorrow.
Then I have an appointment with another recruitment consultant about another job at 1pm and my physio appointment at 4pm.
Somewhere in here I will be trying to eat healthily. I had dinner at a friends last night and was being violently sick at 1amI am hoping it's because I am not used to such rich food!!!
Other than that I will try to keep spends as low a possibleCurrent debt - £16,300Debt at worst 17/03/2011 - £18,067.62:eek::eek::ANot going anywhere else, ever again :A0 -
HIya Lucy
Sorry to hear about the work situaiton but it seems to be panning out ok - fingers crossed.
As you do suffer from anxiety and depression I would ake the money and run - it would take a lot out of you to fight and you may end up no better off; just prlonging hte agony.
Good luck in hte job search.0 -
Hi Lucy,
I've just been catching up with your thread. I hope you get a job soon.
I too have problems with stress at work, and the best thing I find is to try not to think about it too much. It sounds like you're about to move on to bigger and better things with a new job and a new bf.
Fingers crossed for you!0 -
Thanks Guys.
Well I had a really busy day.
Dropped off my wrap to the friend who's being a bridesmaid tomorrow and tried to stop her panicking
Then to the post office to post some amazon sales. back home to hang out the washing (which dried)
Off to the recruitment agency for my registation and all that, they have sent my cv out, and I should find out early next week if they want to see me for an interview.
New blokey text and I got all excitedThink is was sort of asking if I wanted to go to some promo events with him tonight, but he didn't ask outright, I still feel ill and more importantly I don't have anything to wear :rotfl: . But I did get a x via text :T (How so SAD am I
)
Then I came home, did LOADS of housework, had my physio appointment, which I walked to and was my :j for the day.
I am planning a much quieter one tomorrow, I might tidy my bedroom, which is a tip, have a nice pamper day and paint my nails etc and generally enjoy some quiet time.
Oh and see if NB (new blokey) enjoyed his fashion show and the opening of the new nightclub!
Hope we are all ok xCurrent debt - £16,300Debt at worst 17/03/2011 - £18,067.62:eek::eek::ANot going anywhere else, ever again :A0 -

hi Lucy
Sorry to hear about you being made redundant. Don't you just hate it when companies try and pull the wool over your eyes. I agree with other posters though, you should make sure that you get holiday pay owing. Also you could try to get a time off in lieu payment if you have been working lots of extra hours maybe..
But the most important thing you are already doing, you are moving on. I think things happen for a reason, and a far better job is just around the corner.
good luck
chevI want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?
