Girl, you need to get a serious grip. Or get your to the Docs to get your depression sorted. If you are overweight and it is making you unhappy then perhaps a diet and some exercise might help (speaking as one who is also fat but dealing with it).

Agreeing, and given that the average UK woman is a size 16 you are hardly overweight.

OMG-he's a man ,they don't always realise how Women take things. It's something you are obviously sensative about, but he wasn't to know that. Let it go.
Perhaps he was just a quite clumsy dealing with womens feelings (lots of men are but it doesn't make them monsters).

What you called his "weird smirky way "was probably total uncomfortable shock when he realised he had offended you.
Forgive him,he probably meant no harm.x
That photo was 8 years ago,and you were bound to look different to when you were 16,you were a girl then, you're a woman now.

It's far too strong to say this complaint is serious (it's not),and very wrong to call it inappropriate. A complaint about it being innapropriate would be if it was of a sexual nature.

It was insensitive and certainly a training issue but compensation? Keep bursting into tears? Feel destroyed??? "I can't believe anyone would treat another human being let alone a customer like this..." Gobsmacked at that remark. I would generally reserve a comment like for someone who carries out acts of atrocities.....not make a throwaway comment.

I challenge when people say to get better exercise and diet.

I do both yet my weight hardly changes, if anything if I have a "naughty" snack im the sort of person who then balloons out., though that could be something hormonal as i have the signs of being diabetic or thyroid problem since 2 years ago I was slim then the weight shot on.

And with my depression the doc offered nothing but councelling of which im still waiting for an appointment 6 months on.

If you think you are gaining weight with medical reasons, first thing you should have done was see a doctor.

I think you should me more concerned with your reaction than about an insensitive (to put it mildly) comment.

It is an extreme over-reaction and I do think you should discuss this with your doctor, together with your concerns about having put on weight with no understanding of why. I would try and forget about the incident and focus your energy on yourself - don't waste it on him.

If your own doctor isn't helpful - find one who is.

(I am also overweight, but happy and confident).
  • your ID picture shows only your face how much weight could you have put on ????

If something this minor takes you several days to get over without bursting into tears, I hope to god you never have to face a real 'issue'

I think the OP show grow up and get real - you made a jokey comment and he made one back. Hardly crime of the century.

    And well as for compensation........
  • Did you find out why the money was going out of your account? If the Senior Advisor was stealing it, you'd have grounds for your 'Serious Complaint'.
His observation (given what you've said) on your appearance, while a little tactless, is hardly a big deal in the grand scheme of things.

You don't sound like your head is in a particularly good place at the moment. As others have said, it may be worth exploring why you had such an over-reaction to such a little thing? Go talk to your GP.
I'm an adult and I can eat whatever I want whenever I want and I wish someone would take this power from me.

Sounds like you were so shocked you reeled back and now have whiplash injuries, not to mention not being able to walk back into a bank for the rest of your life.

Get real, have a donut and be happy.

How come during the war people didn't get fat due to medical reasons? everyone was slim apart from those few with money (i.e access to more food than those on rationing).
