We have 2 tins one with £2 coins in and another with 20p 10p and 5p in. We put money in regular and last yr opened the £2 for spending money for our hols. We were amazed it had £428 in, and popping a few in when you have them we didn't miss the money. We have started a new tin this yr and will open it at xmas for the pressies.Proud to be dealing with my debts through cccs

I know we do have a savings account we put £50 a month in, and i'm not organised enough to take extra to the bank every week/month, To me it's money I 'can't get too'. Daft i know it would only take a tin opener to open it!!! and I like the suprise of how much is in it when it is opened!!Proud to be dealing with my debts through cccs

same here, it is money I cant get too, a savings account, I can walk into the bank and get the money, or go online and transfer it. I know that it would earn me interest, but I would rather it went somewhere that I know that I have to physically open the tin, which would defeat the object. Its something I know that I wouldnt miss, so its not really a big thing!

I had one of these tins which the removal men stole when we moved:eek:  so now I save 20ps in a plastic piggy and anything else goes into the bank.0

nephilim you sound like me, on a few months when we are 'skint' or rather it's 4 days to payday and we want a take away we often transfer money online out of the savings account. I'm really not disaplined enough and it feels more like saving to me in a tin. But I also know it'd there in extreme circumstances. Touch wood we havn't had any yet but you never know!Proud to be dealing with my debts through cccs
