How do you multiple quote? it would make my life more easier.

I dont really have a hankering to teach, well i kinda do because i can count on three fingers the amount of good teachers ive had over the past 17/18 years. I felt kinda angry at how crap all of my primary school teachers were apart from a lady who i had in year two and the most lovliest woman i have ever met who was a substitute. Half of the reason i got a D was the embarassement of standing up and having to do maths in front of everyone - primary and secondary. Anyway!

Raph: get you! Enjoy the compliment and savour it up, its surprising what a confidence boost they give. I also reccomend dancing in front of a mirror. A SMEAR though? That sounds like a real bad way to start the new year. Im glad i dont have to have any yet, and i can tell thee now that i would no way hosay have a bunch of students looking at my minge, how ever nice looking it is.

Im going to watch neighbours that ive recorded. Got two to catch up on! exciting watching more than one in a day.

P.S 3,000 words to go on the old dissertation!!!

Missy you and ffm have inspired me to re read my food diary, weight, measurements etc and it seems from sep 2007 until present day I weigh 2lb more so not bad and there is me moaning all the time:D true I have put on but managed to take it off over and over to even itself out to 2lb more, it says in the diary about the 5lb gain over last xmas and it is writen in devastating terms so trying to prevent that this year:rolleyes: :D

ll good luck with WW, works for me so long as you stay within the points it is a great way to eat/live:D

I was reading a very good article about 'deprving yourself' letting it escalate so bad that it ends up in resentment, torture, guilt and bingeing, it goes on that why not have two roasties if that is what you fancy rather than let the word potato stay in your mind to chips to roasties to fat,to dripping, to give me give me give me....so that is my new year resolution as I am rubbish at that, I let it go on for so long when it comes to it I cannot or do not know how to stop , if I get something in my mind that yes I fancy then to have a little of it and then it stops it escalating....

It says in the article to point it if you so wish or cal it or whatever you need to do for peace of mind, drop cals elsewhere walk more, exercise but allow it in your plan because not causes more damage than a little bit of what you fancy.....said many times I know but it really made me think that is one of my major probs, such a rigid food intake and not any pleasures....

Portion sizes will always be an issue with me that is WW is my saviour...

WII fit in stock in game, play.com and toysrus, there is athread on here for wii fit in stock and people say where they have got one from if you wanted to get one in time for xmas...

Evening all, just a quick post to say I gained 1lb :o. Not bad considering the time of year, though, strangely, I've been *better* this week than I have since beginning SW. Just been to busy to bother eating junk, lol. Time to eat more syns!

Well done all the losers and STS, gainers...well at least we're trying:rolleyes: :o
    Anytime;)

Hmmm, portion control. . . .is that like self control? Alas OH and I are rubbish at portion control. We had a roast chicken the other day and it did 2 of us and 2 days sarnies for oh ( 4 slices of bread each day). My mum could have made that feed 4 of us and give us all sarnies for a day after. We're aren't very MSE with that sort of thing. I did a bolognaise last night and forced myself to potion some out for OH for his tea tonight, otherwise we would have had the lot.

I've been thinking about portion sizes a lot too - a while ago it occurred to me that I was still cooking the quantities I used to when there were four of us at home, a pound of mince used to be enough for all of us for spag bol, and DH and I were eating that amount between us. Now I use half the amount of minced beef, add Quorn mince and more vegetables (mushrooms, peppers, onions) and save half of it for another meal.

It's also to do with pack sizes - if there are three pork chops in a pack, we'd eat them all (well I'd have one and DH would have 2), but he doesn't really need 2, he eats them because they're there. Maybe buying meat loose from the counter or the butchers instead of pre-packed is the answer.

I eat a lot more vegetables now, thanks to SW, and far less likely to resort to opening a tin of peas!

  • Victory, you are right, your figures are really good, 2lb difference over more than a year is spot-on-maintaining. :D

The info from your article is very true, because I calorie count everything, nothing is totally off limits. I do currently look at mince pies and think 'do I really want to spend 200-300 calories on one of those?' Today the answer was 'yes', tomorrow it might be a no.

I do weigh a lot of my food so that my calorie counting is reasonably accurate - I know how portion sizes can 'grow' in time. I don't often use our large dinner plates any more, we have some medium size ones and sometimes I even use the children's old plastic plates (Thomas the tank engine and winnie the pooh :rotfl: ). The plates are too small that they can't be over loaded.

    Keep up the good work.

A STS this week - which I'm pleased about as went to a Christmas Market and partook in various edibles :o They were very nice though :D.

Congrats to all the losers and STSers.

Thank you to everyone on here for sharing their inspiring stories etc. I've lost far more slowly than I intended due to other things going on in my life that I've little control over - but you have all helped keep me on track to carrying on when I'm sure I'd have given up without the support in here.

if granny and tagz have big boobs they can do the pencil test.

Techically though, being able to put a pencil under your boob and it staying put either means you got a big sweat problem or youre over 30. Im being nice there cos i dont really know when gravity kicks in .

Pencil! I could do a whole crayola set! :rotfl:
    I would if I could but I can't so I won't!
  • minus 4lbs please Esteeemed Chart keeper...

Absolutely no idea where that came from thugh as I did a shed load of baking for presents this weekend and it required a lot of quality control!

"...Hmmm.....does this cookie look delicious?.....nibble nibble.....mmmm....very delicious...but cookie is now damaged.....can't be sending that off to anyone.....CHOMP CHOMP!"

Obviously more than one of each batch had to be sampled to stay on the safe side :D
  • that pencil test has always upset me - from the day mine sprouted i could put a pencil under there - it must just be the way they are

reporting a 2kg gain this week which i was expecting. It mayt not be the best time of year for this but i'm coming off slimming world and going to try eating sensibly, not snacking and going for everything in moderation. SW just isn't working for me any more - or rather, i'm not working with sw, as i know how effecrtive it can be. the job isn't helping - i can rack up 30 syns in a soup tasting that would be worth about 300 calories and no fat. sigh. fingers crossed that i don;t get another massive gain next week.
