    Morning all!

Hi and welcome studentmidwife, I've just finished studying OT with 2 children, a house move, and various other disruptions. It was very very hard but do-able and so worth it to get that piece of paper in the end, I had to defer so am just starting jobhunting now. I have a feeling your course is even harder though.

FFM and Dragon, I don't really do takeaways, I think I've watched too many 'grime' programmes, doesn't half put you off. We do take my mum out for meals with the money saved though, her hubby died recently, unexpectedly, and she's finding it very hard emotionally, so whatever helps...she's so lovely.

Hope the first day goes/went well KPC, I'm sure it will have, as everyone says, you're as good as the rest.

Shell1000 I hope you find a solution to exercise/time, my initial weight gain was down a to lack of exercise time, and once I started gaining it was a viscous (sp) circle. It can be so frustrating, but even if you just fit in a few 10 min sessions of running/skipping/similar, each day, it helps.

Can't you do care work Victory? That's what I do if I'm desperate, it can pay really well and there's usually loads about. Apologies if that's a daft suggestion for you:o. I'm only OK because we left the housing market to relocate and couldn't buy straight away, then decided to wait. Means we live in a tiny, scruffy, house, and can't decorate, etc. Though renting's been a godsend because of family deaths and other stuff, I do miss my lovely house and can't wait to get another, one day.
Missy™Jay11 please, please don't think this is a waste of time! I hope tomorrow's result isn't as bad as you think it might be. If one method isn't working, there are always other approaches you can try? Good luck with your interview :)

Thanks missy, I'm just so used to my sabotaging my diet efforts that I almost expect it now:rolleyes:. I think I just have to get better at anticipating difficult times, like when I'm overtired (making a huge effort to get to bed by 11 each night now) or have extra commitments. THose times really throw me, but I think I'm invincible for some reason! I'm also working on clearing our tiny freezer out so I can fill it with 'emergency' food that I actually like. I just feel embarrased and guilty, the consultant's so nice too!

Have a great day all! Jay xx
    Anytime;)

WI this morn. Extremely, very very very happy to have lost 1.6 lbs.

Very happy as this has now dropped me to 11 stone 13.8 lbs! I'm now below the next stone marker!! (Okay just a miniscule 0.2lbs under but it counts ;) ). I have to-date lost a total of 5 stone :D :T AND!! On I'm now on my FINAL stone :D:j

This weeks challenge is to drop it down futher to make sure I'm not so close to the 12 stone marker, I have lots of workouts planned and thou I have an Indian meal out on Tues, this should be possible.
    This week I'm doing...
Today ~ Body Combat Class at the gym (did the Body Pump on Sat for the 1st time, I'm still aching and can't walk properly :rotfl: )
Tues ~ Gym (to counter-balance the meal out later in the evening, and more importantly quash any guilty thoughts :))
Wed ~ Football practice with C
Thur ~ Half rest day (tons of walking thou)
    Fri ~ Gym
Sat ~ Body Jam Class at the gym
Sun ~ Aaaaaand rest (or more likely collapse :p )

On a side note...how many posts was it before we need a new thread? Was it 1000 or 2000?

Wowza! Woot on the weight loss and  on your exercise plan!!!

I know! its so hard to do! but in the past two months i have got myself a wii and wii fit, which is really helpful in telling me how much i weigh and making exercise really easy to fit in!

the way im looking at it is if i can do three main lots of exercise a week it will really help, im going to try and go swimming one lunchtime a week (at the gym around the corner from work and block out my whole lunchtime so no one can book me in a meeting during that time), one hour on the wii fit one night in the week (making sure that includes 45 mins of aerobic exercise as an absolute minimum - advanced hula hoop here i come!) and then my tap class on a thursday which is 2 hours.

If i can plan around this and then doing any supplementary wii, like wii tennis etc, then its all a bonus!

monkey, you are definately right about the bulk cooking too, its the way forward! im starting to think that a meal planner is good too, for both £ and lbs! If i have planned out what im cooking and have meals ready to just reheat or take to work for lunch then i will be less likely to crave take aways!

although chocolate is a total downfall for me, ive tried buying small bars (i just eat more), trying to avoid it doesn't seem to work either at work as its everywhere.. i have more success at home as i just don't keep it in the cupboards! has anyone got any tips or should i try cold turkey in the hope i learn to dislike the taste?!

Lois £40 isn't bad at all, especially on a day when lots of people probably didn't want to venture out of the house! Keep us posted. Do you think you'll be able to still talk to us occasionally while you're on your travels?

You're right - definitely better than nothing, and it's quite good fun when it's not outside in the cold.

I'm planning to keep a travel blog while I'm away, so providing I've got internet access, I'll be popping in whenever I can.

  • shell, I haven't tried this myself, but do have a couple of friends who swear blind by a hypnotherapy seesion with chocolate addiction.
    Welcome student midwife too.
Thanks missy, I'm on a bit of a go slow again today: I've been fighting a sore throat for a few days and I don't know if it's becasue I've done too much or I'm fighting a lurgy. However, I deserve a standing ovation because I got another 3 things on ebay yesterday:D . We've put shelving up in the attic now that we got from freecycle to help organise stuff up there, and I have a growing pile for charity shop/freecycle. I return to work tomorrow, don't work on Monday's or wednesdays. I got some long put off paperwork jobs done last week too so am generally satisfied that I have cleared the decks a bit. The declutter is on going.
Because I don't feel on top form I need to report the sad demise of several pkts of biscuits...However tonight we have HM cottage pie, with sw topping of mashed cerleric/carrots/swede instead of potato, already cooked and from the freezer. This sort of food planning really does help shell and Jay.
:T raph on being 11st something. It has been such a pleasure followed your determination this whole year.
missy, in a way, your op seems to have done you a favour really, as it gave you a natural opportunity to rethink your balance of food and exercise that seems to have 'cracked ' the maintaining'.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once

How right you are - I think exactly the same way about it, and I feel so lucky! I've certainly had a heck of a learning curve this year with the maintaining & exercise, but I really do believe I've turned the corner now :)

Been out for a cross country run today, 52 mins continuous - it was refreshing!!! Brrr!

Sounds like you're doing great with the exercise Shell, dunno about the chocolate, you could try options hot chocolate, or breaking up a big bar and freezing it in pieces, for mini fixes. I have the same problem with crisps, it's a tough one!
