if you give them the evidence they will just destory it and send a standard letter apologising. I would take it to local environmental health. Also take photos..

Surley they cant legally do that they must have to investigate or do something.
I've just called my brother in-law (he is in the police force) he suggested taking to the local police so i have a more backing.

  • Hope your son is ok. Many years ago when working as a waitress we were told by our managers that if anything like this (or chewing on glass) were to happen, to try and get the evidence from the customer - so that they cant sue. The manager would then in this situation offer something fairly insignificant cost-wise such as a free meal for 2 people.

do as they ask give them a chance to sort it out, give a covering letter letting them know that others are aware of this mabey even take your son to the doctors and show him/her the offending article.

i had a item in my food in a resturant and the manager was very apologetic. the item in question wasnt prepared by them only cooked by them so they sent it off to be sorted . it took a while but it turns out there was a fault on the production of this and i was compensated accordingly to my satisfaction.

Give tescos a chance to sort it out if the outcome is not to your satisfaction take further action.. you dont need the offending article to get into the papers the pics would do ...
Those we love don't go away,They walk beside us every day,Unseen, unheard, but always near,
Still loved, still missed and very dear
Our thoughts are ever with you,Though you have passed away. And those who loved you dearly,
    Are thinking of you today.

Look at it this way Maka. I'm sure you felt as I did when I had my 'glass' episode above. If someone had contacted me and said something like - "There was a problem with our procedures/ filtering / quality control which resulted in this contamination taking place. The fault has been identified and rectified and can not possibly occur again." This would have been compensation enough, I too was not interested in monetary gain. But the cold fact is that's not going to happen. All they will say is that they can't identify where it came from and 'shrug their corporate shoulders'. You sound like a caring person and have concern that this (avoidable) experience doesn't happen to anyone else, especially someone without the knowledge to cope with it like you did.
I assume the tortellini will have been made by one of Tesco's suppliers so they have no direct control over production. Your experience was serious and potentially tragic. Don't you think that as the matter gets passed down the line the relevant people need to be aware of this? I'm not saying take them to court whatever, but they need to be made to pursue this matter vigorously and not fob you off with some lame excuse. The next child may not be lucky and have a parent trained in first aid.

I agree with you 100% still not sure weather to let them have it or not surley all they need are photo's dont really see why they need to send it away it is clear what it is. i have thought about going down the paper route but i can't see a nationl paper wanting to take the story up and if i go go the local papers not as many people will see it.

    Hi there.
I used to work in a meat production plant and if *supermarket* had a complaint about some meat say in the form of a forgeign object they would send it back to plant. The plant would then send the object off for independant analysis. A report would come back saying where the object/ glass etc. would have probably orginated. They can tell everything eg. chopping board wood, safety glass, packaging ties etc. They then know pretty much whether it was a genuine forgeign object or the complainers plant !! They will know if the wire is from their factory almost immediately but do you trust them?
They should be kissing your butt!!
If I were you I would make it VERY clear that you are not happy. You have photos, recorded the incident at the doctors. Informed trading standards and enviromental health and you want to know EXACTLY what the wire was, what it is used for and how the hell it got out of the factory undetected. Deal with just one person and try for head of quality control, you have a right to and they should oblidge. You'll get better results.
    Hope this helps you.

ok, look at it this way. You don't want to send it incase they don't accept that it was there. If hold it back and say that they don't need it and photo's are enough evidence all you're proving is that you have what you consider to be a piece of green wire that you claim to have found in their product. They don't know you from Jim McConMan who tries it on with all companies for financial gain.
If you send it they 'might' test it to see if it has come into contact with their product and analyse what it really is.

You're best sending it recorded / registered delivery so you know it gets there and wait to see what they say.

yeah i see what your saying but im still confused.
How can they say for 100% that it was from them or from me (it is not).
It could easliy have been dropped in by another company who were working on the machines.

Just a thought,,,, - Who actually "OWNS" the bit of wire. If you bought a product with a foreign object in, is it yours or is it still owned by the manufacturer or retailler? This may be relevant if it has to go back to Tesco's.
Also like the comment Kaka72 made, and agree with it - they should be kissing yer butt!
