Just a note for all those who have their doubts about whether the Amex Platinum card is worth the effort...
I've had mine for a good number of years - admittedly so long that my top cashback rate is 1.5% not 1.25%, despite Amex trying to tempt me to change by offering better rates at lower spends. I put all costs I can on it, including work expenses. Whenever I have the option to pay for something with PayPal, I take it - as it goes on the Amex card. Fuel, groceries, train tickets, flights, all go on the Amex.
This years cashback, for doing nothing other than use the card, will be nearly £500. To me it's not "why?", it's "why not?"
I think that's the one I have too - it's top rate is 1.5%
I was going to make two points regarding the quoted post:
1. PayPal a while ago only ever allowed AmEx cards which they charged in US dollars (yes, UK issued cards that is!) and that meant the 2.99% loading charge. Is this still the case if you/anyone knows?
2. If you shop somewhere that doesn't accept Amex, why not let them know using this link?0 -

With the end of my cashback with Capital One fast approaching I am now looking for an alternative Mastercard-based credit card (I have Amex already). I am sure others are too. C1 always used to give me whopping credit limits (£10k) in addition to no fees, fee/loading-free foreign transactions and 0.5% CB on everything.
I know there is nothing that can match this but what is close (in rewards or cash)? I know Aqua have incredibly low credit limits but what about M&S, Tesco, Asda etc? Do any offer cheaper foreign transactions and high credit limits?
If you are replacing a C1 Mastercard for another Mastercard, what are you going for?0 -
Asda mastercard gives 0.5% on all spending and 1% in Asda. I've found cashback mounts up quickly. You only have to get over the self-consciousness of handing over this bright green ASDA card when paying.0

£5 pm for a £300pm spend but you also need a Halifax current account.0 -
I read somewhere that the Asda card had low credit limits. Is this the case?0

I was looking at the Shell card, earlier today, I use Shell 80% of the time, so would be great for me, and was thinking of applying.0

Is there a comprehensive list of these reward/cashback cards and their offers anywhere?0
