Given that Aqua pays back 3% (up to £100 cashback per year), is there any reason why someone with a GOOD credit history wouldn't also get this card, provided they can pay it off each month? Then once they hit the cashback limit, spend on a card with a lower % cashback.
That's a excellent strategy, though you need to monitor your spending more carefully than normal. Aqua gave me a limit of only £500 - my expectation would have been at least ten times this on a mainstream card - and that sort of sum means that putting all household spending on it month by month can easily breach the limit. That in turn renders you ineligible for the cashback.

Aqua said that the limit could be reviewed after six months, but meanwhile you'll need to log on whenever you're within spitting distance of the low limit they set and make a debit card payment to keep the balance below limit.
  • If you only get a £500 limit, isn't that going to make your credit file look poorer too?

    Hi
I have just been accepted for a Santander 123 credit card and was hoping to use it to purchase my Annual TFL travelcard before the prices increase on the 2nd Jan, however I am wondering how the cashback will be applied given the max £300 spend per month in the 3% category?

Does this mean that even though my travelcard will cost about £1200, i will only get a max amount of £9 (3% of £300) as the purchase exceeds the monthly allowance?
If I purchase monthly travelcards every month I would end up getting more cashback, but the savings from buying an annual pass would far surpass the cashback i would get as I would have to pay much more for a monthly pass.
Is the max amount definitely looked at each month independently or would they look at the annual spend overall?
    Thanks for your help.

For full cashback terms click here.
    6. A maximum spend of £300 on either fuel purchases or Rail Purchases or a combination of fuel purchases and Rail Purchases will be eligible for cashback each month (the period between your monthly statements). Once you have reached this maximum amount, any further fuel purchases or Rail Purchases that you make during that month will not qualify for cashback.

    Hello,

I am interested in applying for the Aqua Reward card, at the bottom of this page http://www.aquacard.co.uk/credit-cards/reward-card it says "You will be eligible for cash back as long as you do not exceed your credit limit and make your payments on time. See terms and conditions for full details." But there's no link to the T&Cs and I cant find them anywhere on the site!

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

There is no anything extra in the T&C about this.
AFAIK, the T&C are not available online. You'll get them with the card.
  • i have recently received my cash-back from Capital One's 5%- 1st 3 month offer.
Im now going to move onto the Amex cash-back card. Making use of their 5%- 1st 3 Month offer.
The cash back will be paid for this feb'14 (a calendar year later) however after 3 months the Cash-Back % drops dramatically. If i stop using the card after 3 months (as i have gained my maximum £100) and move onto another card, will the initial cash-back be paid into my account 9 months later, even if ive stopped using the card??
Basically, do i need to keep using the card every month to get the cash back after 1 year???

    Thanks.

    1.Yes
    2.No
    .........
  • I've had my silver Amex card for two years now. The second year benefits were pretty lame (compared to the first) and not really sure if its worth keeping now.
If I cancelled the card and say 7 months later I reapplied for the Amex, would I be eligible for that £100 intro offer or is that now waived forever from me because I have had it once?

It's not for cashback, but I think there is no difference.
