Going to grab myself the new egg money card and finally get away from using my graduate HSBC account and debit card for spending.

I see it states that some online retailers offer additional cashback on teh new egg money CC. Is there a list of these available as the egg siite really doesn't give enough informaiton about the card tbh?

The additional cashback is listed under the Egg Rewards tab on the right hand side of their website, then in the box that says Instant cashback

The summary information gives a fair amount of detail about the card with a link to the full terms and conditions.

Note that there's now a £ 1 monthly fee for having the card.

Figleaves caught my eye @ 10%, so I guess I will have to buy my OH plenty of gifts from now on

Thats only for new customers isn't it? If you have had the card for someo time then there is no charge?

As someone's pointed out on the stoozing forum, if you spend £ 100 per month then the 1% cashback will cover the £ 1 fee, so won't be any real hardship if you're using it as your normal purchase card.

Correct there Canny. I wil be spending about £500pcm so a nice £4 net cashback may seem small, but every little helps. My main reasonin is obviously the extra protection vs debit card and improving my credit rating which is still very very young indeed.

One question regarding the Egg money card. I filled in the direct debit stuff on the application form and chose the 1st of the month as the day to pay, but am unsure whether this is the day to take the £1 fee or to pay off the balance on the credit card. Can someone explain or link me to somewhere where it explains this as this will be my first time using a credit card properly and having to pay it off in full each month. I don't want to lose all the cashback in the first month becuase I didn't set it up right.

The direct debit date is when they'll take the full payment (assuming you've set it up for that and not the minimum).

No idea about the £1 fee, let us know when it comes off your statement

Always worth checking by secure message that your DD is in place and confirming which statement it will take effect from. If you've got a "current" statement you'll have to pay this manually - get them to confirm.

Will confirm everything once all payperwork, cards etc have been received etc. I filled in the direct debit details online, but will I get forms through the post to officially sort out a direct debit. I cannot remember the procedure as I haven't set up direct debits for a while now. It's all become a bit cushty living back with the parents

Not sure why this card is not mentioned in the article. I use it and get 1% cash back.
