Hello,
I have a CapitalOne cashback card that pays 1% cashback. How come the main site no longer recommends this? In fact, it recommends the Egg card, which is 1% but also charges £1/mth. Surely the straight 1% CaptialOne card beats it.

I've had a quick look on their website and it doesn't look to be available to new customersDeal_Spotter wrote: »Not sure why this card is not mentioned in the article. I use it and get 1% cash back.0 -

I spend about 10k a year on my Amex - I don't obviously get the 5% cashback now as I have been with them for years.
Shall i switch to something else??0 -

I'd say so. You can always reapply for the 5% cashback as a new customer after enough time's gone by (their CS people will be able to confirm how long that is).
List of the current cashback offers are on the stoozing site.

There's now no minimum period. It used to be 6 months. I closed mine about 3 weeks ago and was told by the CSA that I could re-apply immediately. I re-applied last week and my card arrived yesterday.I'd say so. 3% Cash Back on Shell fuel purchases in Great Britain
1% Cash Back when you use your card anywhere else
Seems to beat all Martin's Best Buys!!!!
I agree with the above. 3% on fuel if you drive a lot adds up to loads. Also you can get a shell loyalty card (Drivers Club -pick one up at the counter) and they send you cash vouchers and bonus point vouchers several times a year. Use petrolprices dotcom to find your nearest. Shell tend to be cheaper than the others anyway..
Only use if you setup a direct debit to pay off in full every month. This also means that your money is in your own account longer each month, presumably earning interest. Albeit buttons..0 -

It sounds good to me, what is the name of the card, i had a quick look at the capitalone website but couldn't see any mention of cashback cards.
If that true though, i dont see why its not recommended either.0 -
message for mrmjika - now you've got your new Amex card after only cancelling your old one a short while ago, have you actually had it confirmed that you will be getting 5% cashback for the 1st 3 months with the new one?
I ask because I cancelled my Amex card after having it 1 year (so got my cashback payout and then cancelled) and I was under the impression I would have to wait 6 months before re-applying or I would forfeit the 5% 3 mth cashback, but after reading your post, it seems I could go ahead and re-apply right now.MS Stalwart.
